A Huge Improvement Is Coming to Plains of Pain World Control
Custom World and Difficulty Settings Arrive Thursday 12.03.2026
We would like to share something we have been working on every day behind the scenes.
Over the last updates we kept our promise of delivering meaningful systems that expand the freedom of the wasteland. We introduced Dynamic Trading, the Vehicle Manager, the new Quest Log, and the persistent gear system where equipment remains in the world even after a player is taken down.
Now it is time for the next major step.
Custom World and Difficulty Settings
The upcoming update will introduce one of the most requested features from the community.
Players will be able to shape how their world behaves.
Instead of relying only on predefined difficulty options, you will now be able to configure the experience around your own playstyle and available time. This system is only the beginning and more adjustable world parameters will be added over time as we continue expanding it.
For players who do not have much free time for long survival sessions, the game can be adjusted to make certain aspects more relaxed. The system will include options such as:
Classic difficulty presets
Keeping your equipment even after being taken down
Infinite vehicle fuel
Many additional adjustable world settings
This allows everyone to tailor the wasteland experience to their own needs.
Adjust Your World While You Play A System Never Seen in Any Other Game Before
What makes this system even more powerful is that world settings can be adjusted during gameplay.
When you feel ready for a greater challenge, you can increase the intensity of incoming enemy waves attacking outposts and settlements, or adjust other systems to make the world more demanding.
These settings will also work on online servers and dedicated servers, where server administrators will be able to adjust world behavior live while the server is running.
This creates a dynamic environment where the world can evolve together with the players.
What Comes Next
Once this update is released, our next focus will move toward Dev Tools and Creative Mode, followed by administration tools for dedicated servers.
These tools will allow server administrators to manage their communities more effectively, including actions such as removing disruptive players and performing live adjustments to server settings.
We cannot wait to bring this update to you.
Let’s count the days together until Thursday.
Thank you for being part of this journey and helping shape Plains of Pain into something truly special.
And remember this is just the beginning.
