Update v0.8.2 Is Now Live
We continue pushing forward step by step, refining systems, improving stability, and adding features that the community has been asking for. Every update brings us closer to the experience we all imagine Plains of Pain can become.
This patch focuses on usability, player comfort, and core technical improvements that strengthen the foundation of the game.
New Quest Log System
We have introduced a redesigned Quest Log with a more practical and flexible layout.
You can now:
Pin and unpin quests you are currently focusing on
Pin up to 4 active quests at the same time
Unpin all quests for a clean and distraction free screen
We also added follow up images for early quests to improve clarity and presentation. More quest images will be added over time.
The overall quest management layout has been improved to make navigation more intuitive and comfortable.
Persistent Dropped Gear
One of the most requested quality of life features is finally here.
When a player is taken down and drops their gear, the items will now remain in the world even if the player logs out before retrieving them.
This works in singleplayer and on online servers.
If you return later, your dropped equipment will still be there waiting for you. However, if another player finds it first, they are free to take it.
This change makes the world feel more consistent and fair while still keeping the survival tension intact.
Major World Generator Performance Update
We implemented an important performance update for the world generator.
This update optimizes how new world sectors load and helps eliminate rare anomalies that could occur when approaching newly generated areas at high speed, especially in vehicles.
It also improves overall stability and smoothness of world streaming in both singleplayer and online environments.
This is deep technical work that strengthens the long term stability of the entire sandbox.
What Is Next
Now we move on to the upcoming Custom World Settings update.
Players will soon be able to configure their world when starting a new game or server. This will include:
Difficulty sliders
World event settings
Incoming enemy waves configuration
And many more adjustable parameters
This will be a major step toward giving players full control over how their wasteland behaves.
Thank You
We are growing every day, and it is incredible to see the positivity across reviews, Discord discussions, YouTube videos, and all other community channels.
Plains of Pain started as an idea in our heads. Now it is a living world shaped together with all of you.
It is becoming something truly special, and we are grateful to have you on this journey with us toward the ultimate post apocalyptic open world sandbox experience.
And remember this is just the beginning.
