Experimental Testing Now Available
We are launching a new experimental testing phase focused on major improvements and upcoming systems.
If you are willing to help us test, explore, and shape these features before full release, we would truly appreciate your support. Community testing plays a huge role in helping us polish complex systems inside such a living sandbox world.
Important Before You Join Experimental
Please read carefully.
If you switch to the experimental build, you should create a new world and a new character.
Experimental versions may contain unstable systems and ongoing changes. We strongly recommend that you do not use your main worlds or main characters when testing experimental builds.
To keep your default public version safe:
Do not load your main singleplayer world in experimental
Do not use your main character
Always create a fresh world and a fresh character for testing
This ensures your standard version progress remains safe and untouched.
Join the Dev Test Server
We are running a dedicated testing server where you can jump in and explore the experimental build together:
Public Dev Test Server
No password
Testing together makes it easier to discover edge cases, balance issues, and unexpected behavior. It is also simply more fun when we explore new systems as a community.
Enjoy Experimental Together on Discord
We are actively communicating inside the Plains of Pain Official Discord channel.
Come join us, share your thoughts, post feedback, report findings, or simply play together on the Dev Test server. We are present there and reading everything.
If you want to experience experimental the best way, do it together with the community. It makes the whole process more alive and interactive.
Test the New Quest Log and Core Optimizations
This experimental version is not just a branch. It contains important structural work.
New Quest Log Concept
We have implemented a new Quest Log concept, currently about 90 percent complete.
It improves clarity, organization, and long term usability of quests. This is the perfect time to give feedback while it is still in refinement phase.
World Generator Revision and Optimization
We have started a deep revision of the World Generator code.
We are going line by line through core systems, reviewing logic, optimizing performance, and reinforcing stability. During this process we already found areas that could be improved and optimized.
We also identified certain parts that under rare conditions could potentially create anomalies. Addressing these early strengthens the foundation of the game and reduces future glitch potential.
Plains of Pain is a living sandbox world where millions of operations happen every second. Improving the core world generator helps both singleplayer performance and online server stability.
This is foundational work. It may not always be flashy, but it is extremely important for the long term health of the game.
Custom World Settings Are Coming
We are continuing development of the upcoming Custom World Settings and Difficulty system.
This feature is not yet included in the experimental build, as it is still in progress and not ready even for early testing.
Once it reaches a stable stage, we will update the experimental branch with it.
If you want to help us shape these systems, switch to the experimental version, create a fresh world, and join us on Discord or the Dev Test server.
We are building this world together.
Thank you for standing with us and helping shape Plains of Pain.
