Developer Log #4: The People of Terracrypt

In our previous Developer Logs, we explored the strange ecosystems beneath the surface and the new equipment designed to help you survive them. But the world hidden in the depths holds more than hostile terrain and vicious creatures.

Today, we are introducing the people who call Terracrypt home.

They are the heart of its underground civilization. Some may guide you. Some may stand beside you. Others may change the course of your journey in ways you never expected.

More Than a New Map

We never wanted Terracrypt to feel like just another map filled with hazards to overcome. It needed to feel alive—a world with its own history, communities, and people whose lives have been unfolding long before you arrived.

As you explore, quests and conversations with the locals will gradually reveal the history of the civilization below—and the upheaval now sweeping through it.

Whether they are drawing you deeper into the story, leading you toward rare resources, or sharing valuable technology blueprints, the people you meet will play an important part in your journey underground.

Two Settlements, Two Paths

A living world cannot be built from characters who all look, think, and act the same. Diversity has remained one of our guiding principles throughout the design of Terracrypt’s inhabitants.

The underground population is divided between two very different settlements. Each has chosen its own path—shaped by contrasting beliefs about technological progress, the future of their people, and the world beneath the surface.

Those differences extend far beyond their surroundings. You will see them in the way each group dresses, behaves, and speaks, as well as in the choices they make when confronted with the changes threatening their world.

One important figure you will encounter is an elder carrying a ceremonial staff. As the leader of the more traditional settlement, he also plays a central role in the main story. Early in your adventure, his guidance and support will help you find your footing in the unfamiliar world below.

A Darker Side to Life Below

Of course, not everyone you meet will welcome you.

In an environment this unforgiving, even intelligent inhabitants can be changed by forces beyond their control. While some continue to fight desperately for their homes, others have surrendered to madness and obsession—becoming a threat to the fragile peace of the underground.

The environment itself will not be your only enemy. Danger also waits in the shadows, and its true nature may be far more complicated than it first appears.

What drove these inhabitants down such a different path? What truth lies behind their transformation?

You will have to descend into Terracrypt and uncover the answers for yourself.
