A New World Below Demands New Gear

Our vision for Terracrypt is to create a fully realized underground world with its own ecosystems, resources, and rules of survival.

In a hostile environment filled with unfamiliar creatures, relying on the same old equipment would leave Explorers struggling against overwhelming environmental hazards. It would also make the journey feel disconnected from the world around them.

That is why we decided to build an entirely new equipment system around the underground itself. As you venture deeper, you will gather new resources, craft new equipment, and gain new abilities—preparing yourself to push into increasingly dangerous regions below.

Adapt to the Environment—Then Conquer It

When designing this new equipment, our guiding principle was clear: every weapon and piece of gear had to suit the underground’s unique conditions, while also reinforcing its atmosphere and improving the moment-to-moment gameplay experience.

Take Molten Crystal, for example. Its explosive properties can give equipment powerful area-clearing effects, making it perfect for carving a path through monster-packed caverns.

Tough, durable underground minerals can instead be forged into defense-focused heavy armor. The underground’s unique gas resources have also inspired an entirely new line of gas-powered weapons, including the Flame Hammer, Flame Sword, and Rotary Gatling.

We hope equipment crafted from these different resources will offer a wide range of strategies for both exploration and combat, bringing something new to every expedition.

Gear Progression Is Part of the Expedition

In previous community feedback, many Explorers told us they wanted a stronger sense of progression while exploring a new map.

They also wanted specialized equipment that could help them overcome the harmful effects of different environments. Those suggestions became an important reference point for Terracrypt’s equipment system—and a major source of inspiration throughout its design.

That wraps up this edition of the Developer Log. More secrets of Terracrypt will be revealed in the updates ahead, so stay tuned!
