Hey Parasites!
Thanks for waiting! The new immune cells are now in the demo, alongside a complete codex of organelles, mutations and enemies!
Adaptive Immune System
With your parasite leaving multiple ravaged organs in its wake, the Adaptive Immune System is activated to send out more specialised immune cells against the invading pathogen. Helper T-Cells, B-Cells and Dendritic Cells now appear in the Liver level (and in the full game, later levels as well) as the human body attempts put an end to your adventure.
Helper T-Cells
Like their real-life counterparts, the Helper Ts activate and buff other immune cells to combat infection. Macrophages attached with the Helper T Cells are enraged, fighting with heightened fervour. Now we have a question for you: would you target the mount (Macrophage) first, or the rider (Helper T)?
There are two Helper Ts variants: one packs extra fire power, while the other unleashes a vengeful surprise when its Macrophage companion dies.
B-Cells
B-Cells are responsible for producing antibodies that target invading pathogens, which translates into a homing missile attack in gameplay. These tracking projectiles will follow your parasite’s every move until they crash into an obstacle or, eventually, fade away.
Don’t get too comfortable just because you dodge a shot once – it might come back!
Dendritic Cells
Dendritic Cells, the scholars of the Adaptive Immune System. While in real life they are the ones activating the Adaptive Immune Response, in Pathogenic they appear as healers. Their far-reaching tendrils can connect with other immune cells, shielding and healing their allies in combat.
A small tip that you might already knew: always go for the healer first in a group fight.
Codex
We've added a Codex to help you keep track of everything you've collected! It contains a everything about our organelles, mutations and enemies in this database. You can now locate any specific organelle with the filtering system, or browse our catalogue to learn more about your enemy, as long as you’ve discovered them in your previous adventures.
One more thing: some of the advanced organelles are now locked, and can only be acquired after the challenge is completed.
We hope you enjoy fighting these new enemies in the Liver area. If you have any feedback, especially on the new enemies and the Codex, feel free to let us know on our Steam discussion board or on our Discord. More content is in the works, and we'll have more news to share with you soon! Be sure to follow our socials for the latest gossips on Pathogenic!
Full Patch Notes
As always, outside of the new content, this update brings a myriad of improvements, balancing changes and fixes:
Main changes
Adaptive Immune System enemies: T-cell, B-cell, dendritic cell
T-cells stick to macrophages and activate them, buffing them
B-cells produce antibodies, dangerous homing projectiles
Dendritic cells use their tendrils to heal and buff other immune cells
Codex, including a list of organelles, mutations and enemies
Advanced organelles are locked behind challenges for better experience for first-time players
Other Improvements
Improved lighting, specular highlights are now more visible without overpowering the brightness
Updated music tracks, better looping
Added a settings slider for transparency of player attacks
Optimizations and stability improvements
Added a bit of internal pressure to enemies, which should help with them twisting inside out
Balance Changes
- Entrant Mitochondrionduration 10s -> 15s base, rarity scaling 5 -> 7; charge bonus removed (every rarity now grants full extra duration instead of 2x overcharge)
Turgosome: damage-per-second while not attacking 0.4 -> 0.5, rarity scaling 0.1 -> 0.15
Sinoatrial Node: max damage multiplier 1.0 + 0.4*rarity -> 2.0 + 0.7*rarity (much bigger payoff for hitting the beat)
Galvanic Infuser: proc chance scaling halved (+0.1*rarity -> +0.05*rarity); damage multiplier base 0.6 -> 0.5
Scavenger's Gland plasmid: 20% -> 10% chance
