Hey Parasites!

We are going into Next Fest with an update! Invade the human body with the shapeless Amoeba, experiment with new organelles, and more!

New Pathogen: Amoeba

The Amoeba is our latest playable pathogen in the demo. Unlike other parasites, it has no defining shape – literally just start out as a tiny blob of 3 organelle slots. While this gives the Amoeba a tougher start (tip: get stash slot upgrades for extra organelles), players will be able to add new organelle slots as the Amoeba levels up.

This means the Amoeba can grow into unique shapes to suit your specific builds. There are some restrictions in place to make sure it doesn’t break the game, but otherwise the layout and playstyle of the Amoeba are totally up to you.

New Organelles

In addition to the Amoeba, we’re adding new organelles for you to play with!

  • Chromatophore Lens: Charge and activate to release a deadly laser beam

  • Trophic PseudopodThe first of pseudopods, a new type of organelles that automatically reach for the closest enemy to damage them and activate unique effects. This one in particular provides overcharge.
  • Ballistic Flagellum: Shoot down your pursuers as you sprint or dash away. Perfect for kiting. This screenshot might exaggerate things a bit though – a Triosome is attached to multiply the projectiles.

Challenges

We know plenty of you have already played the 4 demo levels tens or maybe even hundreds of times. While new levels will have to wait for the full game, we do have a new challenge mode to spice things up for you.

In the starting loadout, you can now select challenges that modify your runs with special conditions. The demo currently has 4 of these new challenges to put your skills to the test. Do you have what it takes to conquer them all?

And before we go to the changelog, just want to remind you that Pathogenic has a local co-op mode to play with friends! While we don’t have online multiplayer, you can connect remotely by using Steam’s Remote Play Together function. Here's our video guide to setting it up:
