Repeated intro
Greetings, adventurers! We're excited to share another development update. Today, we’ll cover key systems making the game more convenient, deeper, and engaging. Let’s dive in!
What changed
- Gameplay
- Balance
- Events
Player Profiles and Saving
Imagine: you want to start fresh or let a friend play on your PC. Now it’s easy! We’ve implemented a convenient local player profile system.
One Profile – Your Whole Story. Campaign progress is tied to your profile, not individual characters. Create a mage, warrior, or seeker — they’ll all share your story progress and a common inventory. If a quest is too tough for one character, switch to another!
Multiple Players? No Problem! Different people can play on one PC — each with their own profile and progress. Starting from scratch? Just create a new profile!
Your Settings – Always Ready. Key bindings and personal preferences are saved per profile for maximum comfort.
Status Effect System and Encyclopedia
The world just got more dangerous and intriguing! We’ve built a robust status effect system that works both for and against you.
Stronger Enemies. Karamarin’s beasts no longer just attack. They can regenerate, resurrect, dodge projectiles, and more! Status effects are core to their evolving mechanics — and their arsenal will keep growing!
Stronger Magic. The spellcrafting system gains new components:
Offensive Debuff
Make enemies weaker! Effect type depends on activation method and element.
Example
Projectile + Lightning = Stun.
Elemental Switch: Cycle through elements! A single spell can now alternate between fire and water.
Encyclopedia at Hand. With effects and mechanics constantly expanding, we’ve added an in-game reference guide. Find everything instantly: enemy traits, effect descriptions, spell components — your complete compendium of magic and lore!
Mana: The Cost of Power
Magic gains depth: we’re finally adding the long-requested mana and spell power system. Power now has a tangible cost!
Each spell has Power Score, calculated from its complexity (every component contributes). Your character has Magic Power.
Free Casting: If a spell’s Power is lower than your Magic Power — cast with no mana cost!
Power Tax: If Power is higher — prepare to spend mana.
Increase your Magic Power to reduce mana costs for powerful spells or cast them for free.
Balanced Costs: What if a component triggers ten times per cast? Or never activates? We’ve solved it! Secondary action components (e.g., "On Hit") have lower Power Score, but spend extra mana per trigger. No overpaying for "misses" or exploiting "multi-hits". Well, ALMOST no exploiting ;)
Fine-Tuning: Internal tests are promising, but balancing continues. We want mana costs to feel fair — never restricting experimentation or hindering fun moments.
Karamarin
Let’s explore more of the game’s world!
Is Karamarin the Whole World? To its inhabitants — yes! With just one massive landmass, "world," "planet," and "continent" are synonymous here.
Cataclysm & Consensus: The mysterious Great Patch emerged, shaking the world! Scientists from every corner of the world convened a grand conclave, declared the existence of other realms (dubbed Faramarin), and devised an "effective" plan to handle the aftermath: largely ignoring it.
What’s Next?
Our top priority is refining the enemy traits system. We want every encounter to feel unique and reward creative tactics. Full details in the next update!
