What changed

1 fix4 additions5 changes0 removals
  • Performance
  • Gameplay
  • UI and audio
  • Maps
changedThe update was delayed as during testing for Requisition mode there were major performance issues due to the world generation which would eventually develop a memory leak. Most of the weekend was spent working on this and while it is more optimised and runs smoothly eventually performance would tank again so the decision has been made to disable it and push the update so the game is actually in a playable state again.
addedExperience System - Player can now gain XP for different tasks in the world which can be seen in the respective screen in the TAB menu. NOTE - not all skills can be levelled at this time further survival actions to follow in future update.
changedSkill Tree - Located within the experience UI there is also a skill tree that the player can start to work their way through. This is a prototype system that offers players a glimpse into what is to come with plans to heavily expand this system as the project progresses.
addedForge UI has received an update and now has separate inventory slots for input, output and fuel
changedSave System has had what is hopefully its final rework and now all player and map info is stored in one save file meaning that loading this info is more efficient, reliable and means that player saves are now world based which prevents you from taking items from one world to another etc.
fixedAudio Settings bug in which the audio volumes reset to 100 every time the menu is opened have been fixed.

Hi all,

The planned update will be happening today, no exact time planned as it depends on upload times once the project is finished packaging.

The update was delayed as during testing for Requisition mode there were major performance issues due to the world generation which would eventually develop a memory leak. Most of the weekend was spent working on this and while it is more optimised and runs smoothly eventually performance would tank again so the decision has been made to disable it and push the update so the game is actually in a playable state again.

Patch notes for Left Behind Mode are as follows;

  • Experience System - Player can now gain XP for different tasks in the world which can be seen in the respective screen in the TAB menu. NOTE - not all skills can be levelled at this time further survival actions to follow in future update.

  • Skill Tree - Located within the experience UI there is also a skill tree that the player can start to work their way through. This is a prototype system that offers players a glimpse into what is to come with plans to heavily expand this system as the project progresses.

  • Forge UI has received an update and now has separate inventory slots for input, output and fuel

  • Save System has had what is hopefully its final rework and now all player and map info is stored in one save file meaning that loading this info is more efficient, reliable and means that player saves are now world based which prevents you from taking items from one world to another etc.

  • Audio Settings bug in which the audio volumes reset to 100 every time the menu is opened have been fixed.

  • Foliage Generation - A completely new foliage generation system has been created allowing me to fine tune the foliage placement and also optimise it to improve performance drastically. Initial load times for the Left Behind Mode may be long.

  • Loading Screen added for Left Behind mode and will remove itself once foliage has been generated and the player can spawn.

  • Building system has been tweaked slightly to make placement easier and more accurate

I will spend this week looking at Requisition mode and will provide a further announcement with an estimate of when the mode will be available to play.

As always if you run into issues or bugs then please use the button in the main menu to submit a bug report
