Overnight Watch changes
Welcome back, Employee 627!
It has been a while since the last update, so I want to clear some things up and tell you the current state of the game:
Version 0.2 underwent a bunch of performance problems regarding global illumination that needed to be fixed first after creating the new map and adding OVA.
With the new tweaks, the game should run better in the office, all though on the actual game-play maps it might dip a bit.
Another thing that has been taken a lot of time is animations and sound design.
Before making this game, I had zero knowledge on how to make animations, how they work, etc.. and no experience in doing sound design.
Finding / making the right sounds for the anomalies take some time and I very much still underestimate this step a lot. The same goes for the animations.
As a solo dev it's very hard to come up with everything yourself and finding inspiration.
Overnight watch is still actively being worked on, despite me working a full-time job and making this game completely in my free time.
That being said, here is the current state of version 0.2:
The new map has been finished prop wise, all that's left is creating more animations and sounds for the new entity.
The 0.2 build is currently in closed testing and will be on the public unstable branch soon
The narrative system is finished
The other goodies have been added to the office that will greet you once inside
The translation files will be generated soon for the translators to be translated.
A simple Tutorial map has been added.
