Hi otter lovers!

It’s time to share our next major change for the upcoming demo update. This one is all about quality of life: bringing improvements to performance, level design, and how the world feels as you explore it.

🌊 Biomes & Environment

Many of you mentioned that some underwater areas felt too similar visually. We agree. Every part of the world should feel like its own place.

That’s why we’ve added several more distinct underwater biomes, making it easier to recognize where you are and giving each area its own atmosphere and identity.

We also revisited parts of the level design. Different areas of the world now have more points of interest and environmental variety, making exploration feel more fun and rewarding!

⚙️ Improved Performance

You may have heard that open-world optimization is a bit of a… challenge. So performance was a huge focus for this update.

We’ve put a lot of work into optimization to improve overall performance while keeping visual quality intact, making the game feel more responsive and enjoyable.

Behind the scenes, this includes:

  • Level of Detail (LOD) improvements

  • Smarter rendering; dynamic culling

  • Animation, audio, VFX and general optimizations

With these improvements, the world should feel smoother, clearer, and more immersive than before!

We can’t wait for you to dive in! 🦦
