Hello Otterly Lost players!

While the name of our game is very much intentional, getting lost will now be entirely optional.

With this upcoming update, we've added several navigation improvements to help you explore at your own pace, while always knowing where to go when adventure calls. Here's what you can look forward to:

🗺️ Map & Journal

The demand for a map was massive in your feedback for the first demo! We hear you.

Now, as you journey across the island, important landmarks will automatically appear on your map once you've discovered them, without spoiling the fun of exploration. Your current location will also be displayed, making it much easier to find your way around, keep track of where you've been, and plan where to go next.

For those who like to stay focused, we initially added a traditional quest tracking system.

However, after several rounds of playtesting, we realized that constant on-screen tracking took away from the sense of exploration, which is a huge part of our game!

To preserve that feeling while still helping you find your way, we've reworked it into a map-based system:

  • Map-Based Guidance: Quest objectives now appear directly on your map

  • Dynamic Icons: Map icons update based on your progress and the state of the world

  • Everything in One Place: Your journal and quest objectives are now accessible straight from the map

This way, you'll always know where to go, without losing the joy of discovering the island for yourself.

🛟 Fast Travel

There's plenty to explore already, and the world will only grow larger in the full release.

That's why we've added fast travel spots throughout the map. Once unlocked, you'll be able to quickly travel between them, making exploration even more convenient.

We can’t wait to see how your next adventures unfold! 🦦
