fixedFirst, I'd like the thank everyone who tuned-in to our Indieland 2023 livestream segment! Barry was nice enough to discover a few neat bugs in that raw raw build, and now that the major ones from that are fixed (along with a buncha other bugs we discovered locally), we feel reasonably ready enough to unleash this build to the public!
changedLocal Splitscreen Multiplayer Alpha - Unleashed!Because this multiplayer mode is alpha as heck, some features like the photography mode will exhibit funny behavior. There's also only one playable local multiplayer game mode AND only one map because the math of deciding where grass should spawn becomes a little less trivial when there are multiple cameras on-screen. However, our codebase's game mode managers and abstractions are now robust enough to handle a variety of competition types down the line.
addedAlso we added emotes!Adding this may seem frivolous for a game that doesn't have an online focus, but if you want to have an easier time convincing your friends/significant-other(s)/secret crush(es) that would otherwise never touch a skateboard game to at least give it a try, sending 'em a gif a lil guy doing this may be the final push they need to hop on the deck and into the pond.
changedAlso we added emotes! To perform an emote, you'll first need to get off your board by hitting both bumpers on gamepad OR E on keyboard. Then, by clicking L3/Left Stick In or by pressing Q on keyboard, you'll open up an emote-wheel! To use a given emote, simply hold a direction w/ left stick and press A (or click on a given emote bubble with your mouse). Use B or Right Mouse Click to leave the emote state.
addedAlso we added emotes! This update also includes a bunch of minor bug fixes. I also commissioned and added a dope new tune from my friend Kyle of Fallujah/Archaeologist ( '3'). Let's hope at least one of ya'll out there likes Progressive Metal.
changedAlso we added emotes! That is all for now! As usual if you catch some big bugs, let me know via Twitter. Also! We're gonna be opening up an official Olliefrog Toad Skater Discord Server soon, so stayed tuned on our socials for that!

Howdy Gamers,

First, I'd like the thank everyone who tuned-in to our Indieland 2023 livestream segment! Barry was nice enough to discover a few neat bugs in that raw raw build, and now that the major ones from that are fixed (along with a buncha other bugs we discovered locally), we feel reasonably ready enough to unleash this build to the public!

Local Splitscreen Multiplayer Alpha - Unleashed!

Through the powers of instancing and doing our best to avoid singletons whenever possible, we have made our programming lives easy enough to the point where it only took about a month to make local multiplayer a possibility!

Because this multiplayer mode is alpha as heck, some features like the photography mode will exhibit funny behavior. There's also only one playable local multiplayer game mode AND only one map because the math of deciding where grass should spawn becomes a little less trivial when there are multiple cameras on-screen. However, our codebase's game mode managers and abstractions are now robust enough to handle a variety of competition types down the line.

Also we added emotes!

Adding this may seem frivolous for a game that doesn't have an online focus, but if you want to have an easier time convincing your friends/significant-other(s)/secret crush(es) that would otherwise never touch a skateboard game to at least give it a try, sending 'em a gif a lil guy doing this may be the final push they need to hop on the deck and into the pond.

This update also includes a bunch of minor bug fixes. I also commissioned and added a dope new tune from my friend Kyle of Fallujah/Archaeologist ( '3'). Let's hope at least one of ya'll out there likes Progressive Metal.

That is all for now! As usual if you catch some big bugs, let me know via Twitter. Also! We're gonna be opening up an official Olliefrog Toad Skater Discord Server soon, so stayed tuned on our socials for that!

Take Care and have fun, - Mr. Thee
