Olliefrog Toad Skater changes
It's been a hot minute since I've updated the public demo for this game. For most games, doing an update for a demo midway through a game's development is a bit unusual, but for an execution-centric game as this one is, it's a bit easier to justify.
So I'll give you a brief-ish rundown of what this updated demo has to offer:
Demo Park 2 - Riverbank Hotel (Work in Progress)
This map is very nascent and rough around the edges, but offers a small peek into our approach for more organic and urban environments.
More Flatland Tricks!
Tweakable flatland tricks have been added! After you enter a manual or a nose manual, press any combination of the top 3 face buttons twice (e.g. XX, BY, XY, YY, etc) to tweak to a new flatland trick and extend your combos!
More Grinds Added!
There are 8 of these mapped to Y + the 8 directions on the stick, along with the 50-50 which is done by not holding a direction. Another thing added to this build is the ability to tweak grinds from one to another. This is done in the same manner as tweaking flatland tricks - just double-tap any combo of the top 3 face buttons.
New Tunes!
The previous the build only had about 3 songs, but now the demo consists of about a dozen tracks playing on shuffle! Full credits of these songs can be seen in the title screen, and will pop-up in the bottom right corner as the come on.
Misc Features
A number of other small features and changes have been made as well since our last update:
A few environmental landmark tricks aka gaps have been added to the levels. These are not final and mostly exist as a proof-of-concept.
Collectible Letters.
Over a dozen new songs added!
Character and environment lighting model has been updated.
Vert air camerawork and physics have been tweaked.
Spine transfers and been reworked to be more stable.
Another pass has been done on the balancing meter, and will it likely not be the last time I tweak that mechanic.
