I've been up for almost 50 hours... but it was worth it. I noticed a streamer on YouTube had given Neverspring a try and so I watched all 6 hours and took notes on the bugs and hard points. The guy was an absolute champion, some of the stuff I saw him running into was jaw-dropping so I figured I could sleep when I'm dead lol.

I was able to get a chunk done but there's still more to do, along with the currently active reports (some of which I was able to get to in this update as well).

Bug Fixes

  • Some typos have been fixed.

  • The missing tooltip for Support Drones has been fixed.

  • The tooltip for Casual Shoes has been rewritten to better explain that it enables dash for faster walk speed.

  • The slimes in the Lower Sewers were 4 levels higher than they should be. This has been fixed.

  • Some trinket accessories were missing their promised Max HP increase. These have been updated.

  • The invisible monster in the Misty Marshes has been removed.

  • The daggers were all displaying their tooltips as swords. This has been fixed.

  • Dunkargo's starting level had not been changed to reflect the changes in the recent difficulty patch. His starting level has been updated.

  • The boss rage bar was filling too fast. It has been tweaked to fill slower.

  • There was a bug that locked out Magitech Blasters and Magitech Rifles in the shop. This has been fixed.

  • Some items were selling for an old currency that would show up as "deleted item". These items have had their prices corrected.

  • The little Roden-Lago merchant in the Misty Marshes was selling a couple discontinued items. These have been removed.

  • Andorlane's scene introducing Gafgaren showed the wrong scrolling background. This has been fixed.

  • The Sanctum's enemy encounter chance was higher than it was supposed to be. It has been changed to normal levels.

  • The Item Merchants were stuck on old data and selling items for more gold than they were supposed to be. Players will notice a drop in Item Merchant prices to bring them in line with other stores and vending machines.

  • Food Rations have been added to some shops and vending machines.

Content Update

  • The shop screen was clunky, confusing, and needed to communicate stat changes better. It has been upgraded with a new experimental shop screen that will be improved further in future updates.

  • An old game mechanic that was cut before release has been reactivated. As long as Marrick is in the party (or any thief class character), the player can hide in shadows. Observant players may see noticeably dark areas that can be used to hide. Players need only step into the shadowy area to activate hiding. Stepping out of the shadows will bring the player out of hiding.

  • The Abandoned Farmhouse has been updated. Players can now utilize the "hide in shadows" mechanic here.

  • An old game mechanic that was cut before release has been reactivated. Enemies will reveal their damage type weaknesses in a more noticeable way by displaying an icon for any discovered weaknesses. If an enemy displays a "?" icon then they have a vulnerability that the player can discover and exploit. This was done to help guide players towards noticing the damage type mechanics. Some players were confused by moments of sudden damage changes because it was not communicated well enough that there are strengths and weaknesses in play for enemies.

In Progress & Coming Soon

  • After watching gameplay from a couple streamers, I am bumping the Tutorial upgrade priority to the top of the list. I noticed players would either skip or forget the tutorial info at the beginning of the game. There are also some things that need to be added to the tutorial info. Some players are unaware that they can trigger combos, or run away from battles, or link magitech devices, etc. An option will be added to the party's main menu for players that wish to revisit the tutorial info.

  • Right now the level up screen only appears when a character learns a new skill. This makes it also appear when a new magitech skill gets unlocked, even if the character did not level up. When that happens, it shows the character's stats with combat buffs included, making it sometimes appear like a character "leveled up" and lost some stats. The stats lost are from temporary in-combat effects that end when battle ends. So while it is not de-leveling the character it is making it appear like it is. The way it works right now is causing confusion so I will tweak it to be better.

  • The "Attack Chain" indicator is going to be rewritten. I had coded it in a way that attached the timer to the framerate, thinking it would help it slow down if someone lagged but in practice it is causing the circle indicator to sometimes choke up and then fast-forward. This results in the circle indicator sometimes going way faster than it normally does. I am working on a fix for this.

  • Also working on current feedback and bug reports.

Just a reminder to players: Steam has been getting better about flagging for auto-updates but since code changes are such a small file size, even when you change a lot of it, sometimes Steam doesn't send out the update right away. If you don't get the update, a quick "Verify File Integrity" will force an update no matter how small.
