Neon Rain changes

fixedHello again! I used to think doing this would be kind of pointless, but some people have been eager to play early and since I fixed a bunch of issues and added new things that improve the first impression, here we go.
addedA brand new main menu scene and splash screen!
addedSecurity cameras added to the second level to make the red buttons’ functions less ambiguous.
addedAdded more flair to certain rooms in the Fungal Grove.
addedAdded new props for further world-building.

Stuff added:

  • A brand new main menu scene and splash screen!

  • Security cameras added to the second level to make the red buttons’ functions less ambiguous.

  • Jellyfish creatures now glow in the dark. It helps spotting them and, honestly, it just looks cool.

  • Added more flair to certain rooms in the Fungal Grove.

  • Added new props for further world-building.

  • Added a machine gun after the tutorial for players who choose to skip it.

  • Tutorial message explaining how you earn money (by killing stuff).

  • Added more lore.

Changes and fixes:

  • Slightly rebalanced early combat encounters.

  • Added more damage feedback to the slasher shrooms.

  • Slasher shrooms now recover from their attack state much faster.

  • Further optimization to lighting.

  • Some effects in the earlier levels were slightly broken during light optimization. They should now be fixed.

  • Further tweaks to level 2.

  • Spelling and grammar fixes.

  • The magenta sun has been removed from the Hub area and the Fungal Grove. Believe it or not, I do not aim to be an eyesore (mileage may vary, and there are options for it).

CAVEATS

Item percentages currently take into account the Fungal Grove items, but the rest of the Fungal Grove will only be available on February 12th.

Next week update is mainly for press coverage and for players who want to help me playtest. If you’re someone who prefers the most polished experience, I recommend waiting for Steam Next Fest itself, as I will likely release more fixes and balance changes before then.

The first two levels and the Hub should not be affected unless critical bugs are found.

I am very tired… but my willpower isn’t.

Cheers 🍻
