🛠️ Post March Playtest Devblog – April Update & New Playtest
Greetings adventurers,
Following the March playtest, we've been hard at work improving every aspect of Mithrall based on your feedback. This update brings a massive wave of new features, UI overhauls, tool reworks, and gameplay polish.
We’re also thrilled to announce that the next playtest is happening this weekend — and this time, registrations are directly on Steam!
📚 Tech Tree Rework & UI Improvements
Improved tooltip positioning
Tooltip now shows total crafting cost and required workbenches
Warnings added when missing prerequisite researches
Locked items now show costs and locked icon
🧠 Tutorial & Quest UI Improvements
Tutorial window can now be minimized and expanded
Close button more visible
Two new tutorials: - Own your base (Influence Chest + Door) - Create a respawn point (Sleeping Bag)
Quest UI now displays XP rewards with better layout
🧪 Crafting UI & System Changes
Unknown items now appear as silhouettes in crafting queue
Primitive crafting queue includes new icons and border timer
🎯 Quality System Rebalance
The crafting quality system was completely reworked!
Previously, players reached Masterpiece quality too quickly. With the new system, the "quality band" progresses with skill level, making higher-tier results a meaningful achievement.
💬 Context Menu System
We’ve added a brand new context menu in the chat UI!

This system will soon expand across other game systems such as clan management and Influence Chests.
🧩 Puzzle Tools & Level Design Overhaul
We’ve added tons of tools to build dynamic puzzle gameplay and interactive dungeon logic:
Player/enemy detection zones
Pressure plates with FX and trigger logic
Levers with sound, rotation, and reset behavior
Delay-based logic (e.g. delayed chests after puzzle solved)
Global FX spawner (visuals, sounds, particles)
Enhanced dungeon receptacles and interactive sequences

🎵 Keriathor’s Forest Music & Creature Sound Updates
Every devblog brings a new theme track — this time, welcome to Keriathor’s Forest. A blend of bagpipes and piano sets a mystical and slightly dark tone, evoking both beauty and danger.

🪓 New Weapons, Tools & Resources
We’ve added brand-new models for:
Hatchets
Pickaxes
Swords & Greatswords
Shields
New resource tiers (rock, wood) have been added and integrated across maps and dungeons.
📜 Questline & PvP Contracts
We’ve implemented an introductory questline with rewards like:
Tools
Bandages
XP
Knowledge Fragments
PvP missions are now live — complete contracts such as:
“Bring back X dwarven ears from fallen enemies.”
🛒 New Shop System & Mounts
Two exciting new systems:
🛍️ NPC Vendor Shops: Purchase basic gear and helpful supplies to get started faster.
🐎 Mounts are in! Players can now buy horses in the starting area and begin riding across Mithrall! This is just the beginning of the mount system — more types will come in future updates.
🐞 Bug Fixes & Improvements
Bank items no longer vanish on reopen
Bank UI no longer shows other players’ inventories
Coin cost now applies when buying extra bank pages
Quest items with improper quality now fixed
Tablet fabricator interaction now works reliably
UI overlaps, tutorial triggers, and health bar display cleaned up
