Miss Peacock changes
After gathering player feedback and careful discussion, we have lowered the game's difficulty by removing certain death scenarios, eliminating mandatory sanity checks, and making option-based challenges less difficult.
Here’s what we did:
1 – Removed death content in the exploration phase.
The only non–main-story death in exploration, internal ID: Barrack-08, has been removed.
It was a nightmare sequence in the barracks (Plot9) that caused an unavoidable death when mental stability was at the minimum (-3).
Exploration no longer contains any death outcomes.
2 – Removed all non-branching mental-check instant deaths.
Previously, some mental checks had no branches; if the player’s mental stability was at the minimum (-3), the check always resulted in death.
Those have been removed. Remaining mental checks have branches, so players can avoid death.
3 – Eased death-option difficulty.
Options that lead to death are now easier to recognize; some trap options have been made more absurd or odd so that “don’t pick this” is clearer.
4 – Adjusted some death types.
We adjusted certain death outcomes so they are spread more evenly, making it easier to collect death cards.
5 – Published a short guide.
As a result:
1 – Total deaths are reduced from 44 to 40.
2 – Most death-related options are significantly easier to avoid.
3 – There are no mandatory mental-check instant deaths anywhere.
4 – Death types are more evenly distributed.
5 – A short guide is available via the bulletin board so players can reliably choose non-death options; specific story triggers still require continued collection.
