During Early Access, the game received a Very Positive rating and was nominated for the Romanian Game Awards for two consecutive years. The full release expands exploration inside Boyd Manor and adds multiple hidden endings.

Inspired by Clock Tower and early Resident Evil titles, Midnight Special blends retro point-and-click horror, 16-bit pixel art, and a tense cinematic atmosphere shaped by giallo, slashers, and 70s–80s sci-fi horror.
