MidKnight Story changes
Today’s update focuses on improving player direction through the new Journal system, enhancing dialogue presentation with facial mocap animations, refining gameplay and bringing various bug fixes for a smoother experience.
Improved Inventory Background
The inventory screen now features a full 3D background for a more dynamic look. Paran’s stance has been updated, replacing his default idle animation.
Journal Page Available
The inventory system continues to expand, and the Journal is now available. This quest tracker keeps your objectives clear, with added commentary from Paran to provide lore and character insight.
When an objective updates, it now appears directly on the HUD in the top-right corner, so you always know your next step.
Fully Animated Dialogue Moments
Radio conversations between Paran and Sumael are now enhanced with facial motion capture! Alongside full voice acting, these animated performances make each exchange feel more alive and immersive.
All future similar interactions throughout the game are planned to follow this same fully mocapped approach, helping maintain consistency for dialogue scenes in later parts of the story.
Bug Fixes & Improvements
Fixed an issue where opening the inventory at the exact moment a cutscene ended would cause the cutscene fade-in and fade-out effect to appear inside the inventory screen.
Fixed an animation glitch where Paran could become stuck in the down-slash attack animation if he was hit at the same time. The issue could previously be resolved by pressing the jump button.
Sand Slide now offers better movement control, and surface swimming speed has been slightly increased for smoother traversal.
Fixed an animation glitch where Paran could sometimes play the incorrect climb-up animation, an issue that occurred mainly inside one of the buildings in the desert outpost.
Additional guidance has been added to the desert outpost puzzle. Interacting with the statue multiple times will provide more helpful and inclusive responses from Paran, making the puzzle experience a bit clearer without removing the challenge.
