Patch Overview This update focuses on controller usability and the first major Steam Deck support pass. We reworked menu navigation, world interaction, aiming flow, and HUD access so the game plays more reliably with a controller and presents better on 1280 x 800 screens.

New Additions

  • Added a broad first-pass Steam Deck support layer with device-aware button prompts, controller keybind guidance, and automatic mouse cursor hiding while controller input is active.

  • Reworked controller aiming and firing so shots now follow the actual aim direction instead of depending on stale mouse position.

  • Added stronger controller focus states across menus so selected buttons, upgrade cards, and actionable items are easier to see.

  • Added shoulder-button tab cycling for controller navigation in the unified menu and other multi-tab interfaces.

  • Added right-stick scrolling for controller use in scrollable menus instead of relying on automatic focus scrolling.

  • Added controller access for world interactions such as caves, ruins, summoning stones, boss entry prompts, building quick actions, resource conversion, and grid management.

  • Added controller quickslot-adjacent HUD actions for Skip Time and Overclock, so those systems are reachable without needing to press small screen buttons.

  • Added controller zoom controls using L1 + R1 with Up / Down.

  • Improved the main menu layout for Steam Deck-sized screens and updated version / patch notes presentation.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed several cases where menus or popups could open without any selectable focused control.

  • Fixed controller navigation in the upgrade screen so upgrades and reroll are reachable and visibly highlighted.

  • Fixed unified menu tab switching so controller users can cycle tabs without reopening the menu through the wrong shoulder input.

  • Fixed controller build flow so build placement movement uses controller input correctly, with rotation remaining available during build preview.

  • Fixed button prompt text so keybind/help descriptions adapt when controller input is detected.

  • Fixed multiple world interaction prompts to show controller-aware wording instead of keyboard-only instructions.

  • Fixed main menu responsive layout issues affecting version label and difficulty info placement on compact screens.

  • Disabled the unfinished run seed prompt from appearing in normal start flow.

Known Issues

  • Steam Deck support is still being iterated on. Some lower-frequency menus and popups may still need extra controller polish.

  • A few screens may still need additional readability or spacing adjustments depending on language and viewport scale.

  • Controller support outside the most common gameplay and menu flows is improved, but we are continuing to expand coverage in edge-case interactions.
