Hi all, Steam Network Mode has been out for a while now, and it has proven to be stable. Meanwhile, Cost Based VS Mode has just launched in LF2R v2.16.

addedV2.15: • Network Mode (Steam Network) is now available. You no longer need to enter an IP address, set up port forwarding, or run a separate server program to play online with friends. Just create or join a lobby directly from the main menu.
fixedV2.16: • Network Mode (Steam Network) now supports up to 8 computers • Allow hiding (Shown as '?') Random characters in the game menu • Add 'Cost Based Mode' for VS games – Each team has a shared Team Cost Pool. – Each character has a fixed cost. – When a character is defeated, the team cost pool is reduced. – If cost remains (> 0), the character respawns. Otherwise, the entire team is defeated. • Add 'Time Limit' to VS and Championship modes • More Game Options, you can choose whether to allow: – Item drops – Transform (to LouisEX) – Respawn Shuffle (Random character + Cost Based mode only)

Since I did not post a full announcement for my previous update (v2.15), I have included the highlights for both updates below.
