The Fading Gardens — Where Light Refuses to Follow

Somewhere deep in the Shroud lies a set of outdoor gardens that… well, don’t exactly love you back.

Wander too far from the scattered lamps and you’ll feel it instantly: the glow weakens, colors drain, and the world collapses into a quiet, uneasy void.

These lamps respond to your movement, flickering alive as you approach—but only for as long as you stay near. And if another light just sparked somewhere else in the garden… well, you’re alone out there. Aren’t you? Steam post image

A False Facade

Further in, you’ll enter an indoor facility dressed up to resemble a cozy retro suburban neighborhood.

A painted sky curves across the walls. Porches sit beneath glowing faux sunsets. Outdoor furniture rests where “outside” doesn’t actually exist. It’s pleasant—too pleasant.

But this illusion is fragile.

This environment is hyper‑reactive, and your actions can trigger sudden, sweeping shifts in time, weather, lighting, and mood. A single step or interaction may be enough to rupture the façade and reveal the instability underneath.

And lastly... This is what we call,

Our Biggest Fan

This level ends with a massive, building‑sized table fan —a mechanical monolith.

And in case you’re wondering:

  • Yes. It’s enormous.

  • Yes. You get to turn it on.

  • Yes. It causes exactly as much environmental chaos as you’d hope.

It is, without question… our biggest fan.
