What changed
- Gameplay
- Balance
- Performance
- UI and audio
This patch mainly focused on polish & some strange issues that we noticed in streams. We're also just generally working through a larger bug log, and trying to fine tune our game mechanics, area by area. This patch will initiate some changes to the handling of spacecraft, that will likely take some time to completely tune.
Thanks to @pizzbonez, @sirenderboy, @retromation, @DeexEnigma, @Saracen for identifying these :).
Side Announcement!
Congratulations to @Pizzabonez for setting the first official Lilith Odyssey Speed running record! His in-game time was pretty low (20.5 Voyage Days)! If you'd like to make an attempt at breaking the record, be sure to capture a video (YouTube \ twitch) of your run, so that it can be verified officially.
New Features
The planet camera angle can now be adjusted permanently. It will not snap back when you release middle-mouse.
The space camera angle can also be adjusted permanently. To snap it back, the player is able to press "V" (which is also shown as an indicator as soon as the camera angle is altered).
The Navigation Ball (B) now displays a brighter red dot, and this dot is labelled as the player's target. This target is helpful for navigating to far-away destinations.
Balance
Having items breakdown for additional resources at a 1.8 rate was breaking our underlying economy (as breakdown rates are percentages of the printing costs (with our 3 different EFU techs)). Instead of adjusting this coefficient (from 1.0 to 1.8) we increased the likelihood of loot drops by a factor of 2.0. The end result is about the same.
Space Madness will now decrease while players are on planets, and increase while in space (instead of permanently increasing while in space). We may raise or lower the rates of these processes in the future.
Braking & Engine controls have been normalized. Controls were formerly tied to a user's frame-rate or machine performance (which created undesirable quickness or slowness for these controls). From here, we can balance the speeds of these controls based on community feedback.
Bug Fixes
The in-game Manual no longer has images cut-off by the scrollbar.
The title screen "LILITH" text will no longer be hidden on various systems that had an issue.
The tech-tree text was disappearing for some users due to toggling the UI to LARGE mode. This has been fixed.
The character information screen now says "Methane" instead of "Meth".
Storms should no longer be generated within 95 LY of the home-world systems.
