Development Notes (v. EA 1.00.020)

So it seems like some of our ease-of-play economic balance changes may have gone overboard. This patch brings them closer to the ideal values (hopefully). We also fixed a few save-game bugs, and some game-polish issues.

changedFuel efficiency in space decreased from 2.2 to 1.5 .
changedHarvested Resources (such as dirt or logs) breakdown rate is now 1.8x. You may notice some decimals in the UI, the EFU actually stores data with decimal precision, but the UI may hide that precision at times.
changedPotatoes, Warp Root, and Nitrocorn now convert to to less fuel (1,2,3 grams of fuel) per food item respectively. This is intended to prevent exploits where players completely ignore the production of fuel cells.
fixedSave games were failing to load due to an issue regarding file paths. Should be corrected now. Also, the save-game feature is probably one of the least tested features, so bear with us as we handle a potential range of game-saving issues in early access. We hope to iron these out prior to the full release.

Thanks to @DeexEnigma, @Voxel, @Saracen, @wandtpag, @syllospri, @Wolfram, @GachaPawn for identifying these :).

Balance

  • Fuel efficiency in space decreased from 2.2 to 1.5.

  • Harvested Resources (such as dirt or logs) breakdown rate is now 1.8x. You may notice some decimals in the UI, the EFU actually stores data with decimal precision, but the UI may hide that precision at times.

  • Potato Farms now generate 8 potatoes per florp canister (instead of 10).

  • Warp Root Farms now generate 5 warp roots per florp canister (instead of 6).

  • Protium Fuel Wells now generate 8 protium cells per battery (instead of 10).

  • Deuterium Fuel Wells now generate 5 deuterium cells per battery (instead of 6).

  • Potatoes, Warp Root, and Nitrocorn now convert to to less fuel (1,2,3 grams of fuel) per food item respectively. This is intended to prevent exploits where players completely ignore the production of fuel cells.

Bug Fixes

  • Save games were failing to load due to an issue regarding file paths. Should be corrected now. Also, the save-game feature is probably one of the least tested features, so bear with us as we handle a potential range of game-saving issues in early access. We hope to iron these out prior to the full release.

  • Fixed a bug where the tutorial text did not match the tutorial objectives when tracking the initial star.

  • Jazzgore loading screen spelling mistake corrected.

  • Printing 5 fuel cells during the tutorial should now count as 5 fuel instead of 1. It was intended that folks would generate the cells using a fuel rig, but it is equally acceptable to print them.
