When we started building Kiipluu, we had a clear idea:

This is not a power fantasy. You don’t become stronger, you become smarter.

Every system in the game is built around that principle.

As development continues, we’re looking for ways to deepen stealth mechanics without removing tension or player choice.

At the same time, we’re expanding the game’s survival layer by introducing hunting.

Gathering resources is essential, and hunting plays a big role in that. Hunting is a demanding mechanic, in our game. It requires tracking, patience, and understanding animal behavior.

Because of that, we started exploring ways to support both stealth clarity and hunting readability. Without making the player feel overpowered.

Introducing Hunter Sight

To address this, we introduced a new mechanic: Hunter Sight.

Hunter Sight is not a permanent ability. It’s something you must prepare and choose to use carefully.

To activate it, you craft a resource called Focus Dust.

When used, Hunter Sight briefly allows you to:

  • see enemies through terrain

  • track animal footsteps for hunting

This gives you a short window of clarity in situations that would otherwise be uncertain.

What We Wanted to Achieve

The goal is simple:

Not to make you stronger, but to help you understand. Hunter Sight is designed to:

  • reduce confusion, not difficulty

  • support learning, not replace it

  • give insight, not control

You still need to read the situation. You still need to make the right decision. And you can still fail.

The Design Tension

But this creates a real design question.

In a stealth survival game where:

  • observation is everything

  • uncertainty creates tension

  • mistakes are part of learning

How much clarity is too much? Does Hunter Sight:

make the system more readable or remove tension by exposing too much?

We don’t have a final answer yet. That’s what we’re actively testing.

We’re continuing to iterate on:

  • how long Hunter Sight lasts

  • how expensive Focus Dust should be

  • how often players can rely on it

Our goal is to keep the core experience intact: You are not the hunter. You are trying to survive. We’d love to hear your thoughts.
