Kemopop! changes
Hello!!!!!!!! This update coincides with of Boys in Hawaii!. New features have been added to increase the scope of the game.
If you want more boys, get the Boys in Hawaii! expansion now!! There's additional features and content not mentioned in this news post. This post goes into detail of the features added to the base game in 2.0.
Cutscenes!!
Originally designed for Boys in Hawaii!, 2.0 extends Kemopop! with cutscenes. Every stage has an intro sequence, and every character has a bonus scene unlocked from extensive play. Unlock all achievements, or accumulate $2,000 of tips across a character's stages, to unlock these scenes early.
As they break up the pace of the game, cutscenes are best observed from a new save file, and you might want to start over. If you played a lot of Kemopop! previously, you may see bonus cutscenes on the first 2.0 game launch.
Miscellaneous
[Feature] On the Game Over screen, you now see your before-and-after cash balance. In Boys in Hawaii!, if it is a character's birthday, you will receive a 2x bonus.
[Feature] Your save file now tracks wall time and time spent in-game, for speedrun metrics.
- [Fix] macOSA grave bug which would cause the game to crash in certain circumstances has been resolved.
[Fix] Duplicate Cherry Bomb launches can no longer softlock stages.
[Fix] The rocks from duplicate Wrecking Ball launches can no longer destroy each other.
[Fix] Several fixes related to font outline sizes with the Japanese locale.
NB: The game may start up a little slowly on the first launch, please be patient. This was an annoying side effect of upgrading to macOS Tahoe, which severely degraded the performance of Godot's compatibility renderer. The renderer was changed, which seems to have an effect on the time it takes to launch on the first run. Subsequent launches appear to be faster.
If the situation changes, I'll try to revert to the previous renderer in a future update.
Next Steps
The soundtrack is due for an update. A new series of tracks for Boys in Hawaii! will be added to the base soundtrack. Also missing from the soundtrack is two tracks that were added to the game after the original OST release.
The Steam Achievements look a bit boring. I am keen to make these look a little more presentable. First, Steam Achievements will be updated to include DLC achievements; but please wait a moment.
Thank you for your continued support.
Edit:
2.0.1: Patch Notes
[Fix] Was unable to attain "The Beach House" achievement.
[Fix] Water level gain was not decoupled from framerate, so it was faster at higher FPS.
