Dev notes on caves and abandoned mines,
Caves introduce some interesting new gameplay. Caves are cold and player body temperature will slowly decrease over time. I'm working on a hypothermia/cold mechanic similar to heatstroke but want to do more testing to ensure that it doesn't become annoying so it will not be included in this update.
Caves and mines are a great place to find stones and if you're building a structure that requires a lot of stones such as walls I highly recommend visiting a cave.
Caves and mines are very dark and most have a headlamp near the entrance.
When visiting a cave or mine I recommend going with a completely empty backpack as there is a lot of loot such as food and lanterns to be found.
If you die in a cave or mineshaft you will respawn in a different location inside that specific cave/mineshaft. Death outside a cave will result in a normal respawn.
Players will need to dive into deep cave water to fully explore the caves, For this I recommend using oxygen cans to increase time spent underwater.
Dev notes on map expansion,
Many players have requested a bigger map / map expansion. This is being put into higher priority considering the amount of requests for this feature.
A brand new map area is in the works which will double the current map size. This area will mainly focus on swamp type biomes and will contain large lakes and rivers.
Player recommendations for animals, plants, environment type, etc. are really appreciated.
Known Issues,
There is a known bug where in very rare cases players climbing mineshaft ladders will glitch through the wall and fall through the ground. If this happens just wait to respawn and reload your game afterward. This will be fixed in the next patch.
