Here is some info regarding changes, new content and what to expect from early access launch.

(Changes are compared to the previous playtest that ended on 7 February 2025)

Environmental Changes

Since the playtest a lot of additional details have been added to improve the visual quality of environments in Kalahari's End. This includes new trees, ground debris/cover and more assets in water sources. This is important to make the game feel more realistic and immersive.

Weapon and Tool Changes

In the previous playtests players were locked into using the camping axe and wooden bow as the weapon selection and collection system was still in development. Now players can find or build workbenches which can be used to select from a range of weapons each with unique damage, stamina usage, durability and appearance. Some tools can be crafted whereas others must be found across the map.

Tool condition can now be reduced by using said tool. When a tool or weapon has low durability it will deal less damage and use more stamina. Tools require different materials to repair with the most common one being refined leather. Players can also craft a set of basic tools such as the crafted axe or bamboo bow.

New Map Areas!

New areas have been added and the map is much larger! This includes new biomes and great base locations!

New Points of Interest!

With new map areas come the addition of new abandoned locations, All with an abundance of loot such as lanterns, tools or other useful items.

Navigation Changes!

In previous playtests players found it difficult to navigate new areas or find locations suggested by other players. For this reason maps can now be found around the map with functional coordinates and a compass.

New Animals!

This version of Kalahari's End includes new animals such as leopards, warthogs, tiger fish and smaller insects like dragonflies or beetles. Existing AI also received a rework to make them feel more alive.

Storage Changes!

In previous versions players could only have one item per inventory slot which limited the satchel a lot. Now players are able to stack items depending on their size with larger items having small stack sizes and small items having stack sizes up to 8. Some of the new structures include food barrels and storage crates which allow players to store basically any item in the game. Some items dropped on the ground will still de-spawn when a save is reloaded, Important items such as logs, pots or leather will not de-spawn. A wide range of new items and materials have also been added such as palm and banana leaves, clay, fertilizers, lanterns and much more!

Achievements Unlocked!

To provide players with additional challenges while surviving the Kalahari the game will launch with 30+ unlockable achievements. As the game develops more achievements will be added to fit new content.

Early Access launch includes a lot of other updates, changes and new content such as reworked nutrient management and bug fixes.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Regarding Story Mode

At this time Kalahari's End will not have a story mode. If you are intending to buy the game for the sole reason of playing story mode it is recommended that you wait for full release. Thank you for your patience. Thanks to everyone who supported Kalahari's End up to this point!
