Update #13 Experimental Branch

Hi folks!

We've got another experimental branch for you to try. We've just released a preview of Update #13: Combat Improvements & New Recruits ahead of the official launch next week, and we're keen to hear your thoughts.

General guide to experimental branches:

  • Play at your own risk. Experimental branches have minimal testing, and saves may not work with older or newer versions of the build. We strongly recommend a new save to keep it separate and to back up any saves that are dear to you.

  • We'll be collecting feedback in a specific survey form. You can find the survey in the Main Menu of the game in the experimental branch or here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ZNN3HZ3

  • Keep your survey responses focused on the game experience. Use the usual bug reporting methods to report bugs.

  • There's a dedicated Discord channel to discuss thoughts: https://discord.gg/intothedead

Update #13 experimental branch additions:

  • Grab QTE - A quick time event (QTE) when grabbed by a zombie. Failing this quick time event might result in getting infected.

  • Directional dodge - Performing a directional dodge (forward and backwards).

  • Barge while sprinting - Activating a short barge to go through threats and through doors.

  • Sprint attack - Performing a running attack without having to stop or slow down.

  • Firearms and throwables quick swap - Swapping between a firearm and a throwable without needing to open the backpack.

  • NPC stealth kill icon - Helps to prevent accidentally killing NPCs when attempting to talk to them.

  • Backing out of an execution attack - Quickly backing out of an execution after the kill to avoid incoming enemy.

  • New recruits - enough said.

And a number of other smaller changes.

We have also updated some game key bindings, so review your controls for a smooth game experience!

How to get to the experimental branch:

  • Open your Steam client

  • Find Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days in your Library

  • Right click the game and open 'Properties'

  • Navigate to ‘Game Versions & Betas’ and select ‘experimental_0.16’

  • Launch the game

If you need to change back to the default public version of the game, follow the same steps but select ‘Default Public Version’.

Catch you in Walton City.
