Idle Library — Major Update: The Grand Overhaul

First and foremost, thank you for your incredible patience. I have been listening to your feedback and this update represents the most significant changes to Idle Library since launch. I hope it makes the game feel more rewarding, more strategic, and much more worth your time.

⚖️ Balance & Progression

  • Raised the first prestige threshold from 10,000 → 75,000 books, so reaching prestige feels like a genuine milestone

  • Steepened prestige scaling — later prestiges now require significantly more effort

  • Post-prestige upgrade costs now scale harder, making each prestige cycle feel distinct

  • Ascension now requires Prestige 15 (up from 10), giving the mid-game more breathing room

  • Moderate base cost increases across early upgrades to slow the opening hours and make each purchase feel meaningful

  • The Curator upgrade has been reworked — it no longer reduces research costs (those have been reset to fair values). Existing Curator purchases have been automatically converted into equivalent passive income, so no progress was lost

🏛️ New Upgrades

  • Two new mid-tier upgrades added to fill the dead zone between Curator and Grand Librarian, smoothing out the late-game progression curve

🔬 Research Overhaul

  • Two new research categories added: Philosophy and Mathematics

  • Research is now unlimited — purchase as many levels as you want

  • Synergy bonuses now only trigger when ALL five categories reach the same milestone together (5/5/5/5/5 = Tier 1, 10/10/10/10/10 = Tier 2, etc.), rewarding balanced investment over grinding a single category

📜 Quest Overhaul

  • Completely rewritten quest system with more quest types, more variety, and better rewards

  • Quest rewards now scale with your prestige and ascension progress, keeping them relevant at every stage of the game

  • Quests can now reward Boosters on harder objectives

⚡ Boosters Reworked

  • Boosters can now actually be earned — through quests, daily rewards, and the gem shop

  • Boosters now serve a real purpose in your daily play loop

⭐ Ascension Perk System (New)

  • Introducing Ascension Perks — a permanent progression system that survives prestige and ascension resets

  • Earn 1 Ascension Point each time you ascend and spend them on a deep perk tree

  • Branches include: general income boosts, tap specialization, passive income specialization, research bonuses, booster upgrades, quest rewards, gem fortune, prestige multiplier bonuses, ascension multiplier bonuses, and the ultimate Omniscient perk

  • Fully unlocking everything requires many ascensions, giving long-term players a meaningful goal

🏆 Achievements Expanded

  • Massively expanded achievement list — now includes achievements for far more than just book counts

  • New achievement categories: Prestige milestones, Ascension milestones, Research synergy tiers, Perks unlocked, Total clicks, Quests completed, Boosters activated, Daily rewards claimed, Gems earned, and Book Festivals hosted

📖 Narrative & Milestones

  • Three new milestone messages added to fill narrative gaps in the mid and late game

💎 UI Overhaul

  • Major visual and layout improvements throughout

  • Upgrade buttons now display your effective gain (accounting for all active multipliers) so you always know exactly what you're buying

  • All notification messages now show properly formatted, multiplier-adjusted values instead of raw base numbers

  • Numbers now format correctly all the way up to vigintillion

  • Offline earnings message now shows the actual amount earned in a readable format

  • Special Collections page now includes an explanation of how the system works

  • Research page now includes an explanation of how the system works

  • New Ascension Perks page added to the navigation

Thank you again for your patience and support. I'm an indie developer learning as I go, and your feedback means more than you know. I'm sorry for any rough edges along the way — every update I ship, I learn something new. See you in the library. 📚
