Hunt for the Lost Folktales changes
πΊ Greeting Huntresses & Hunters!
This is a little developer update to share the news that the Demo is finally out and you can play it now!
Also in this post, I'll be sharing the new Demo Launch trailer, give a brief rundown of the Demo gameplay content, and a thank you message from the little team creating this little indie game!
Hunt for the Lost Folktales Demo
ποΈ Demo Launch Trailer
Put together a new trailer for Demo Launch day! (YouTube video below)
π Play the Demo!
The demo will feature 2 hunt contracts to give the players a sense of what you can expect more of for the full game. The first hunt will be a shorter tutorial run to learn the battle basics and how to track the Elder Folktale to defeat them and complete your hunt. While the second hunt is where the game opens up to the larger locations to explore with many more battle encounters.
Rough estimation of playtime is around 1 hour if you follow the main trail for the 2 hunt contracts, with up to 3 hours of content if you are looking to complete every combat encounter and collect every last puzzle scroll, ink stamp, and folktale book the demo has to offer.
Rundown of Demo Content:
2 Hunt Contracts leading to 2 Elder Folktale Challenges
1 Side Quest for Ghost Hunting to gain additional rewards
25+ Battles against various encounters with 8 folklore-inspired creatures
5 Level Locations to explore, battle, and discover hidden curiosities
2 Writer's Block Puzzles to solve to gain powerful Ink Stamp combat passives
1 Folktale to Recruit to your Party (when foe turns into friend)
8 Skill Upgrades available for your Party of Folktales
πWant to share your thoughts about your demo experience?
Great news! There's a Feedback Survey link in the demo main menu and pause menu! As an indie developer, it's always great to hear what the players want to see more of in the play experience!
π Thank you from a tiny team!
This indie game is developed by Howling Lost Tales, a solo indie game developer working with 2 audio collaborators to bring this demo to Steam!
π Hello there! I'm Lisa, the one indie game dev of Howling Lost Tales, and I started this indie dev journey to bring together my love of learning about folklore stories from around the world, drawing mythical creatures, and exploring the wilderness. Also, I've been working in games for over a decade and thought it was time to take this little side project of mine into a full fledged indie game!
π With a special talent for creature SFX, Leon is the Sound Designer for the game and has been a great collaborator to bring life to these mythical folklore creatures through every combat action!
π΅ With the musical talents, October is the Music Composer for the game and just knows how to set the tone of every location to give the feeling of the mystical magic of folklore stories blending into the world.
π«Ά I hope you will enjoy playing the Demo and a big thank you to all those who wishlisted the game! It means a lot for a tiny team to continue creating independent imaginative worlds for you to explore!
πΊ Enjoy the Hunt and happy gaming out there!
And it would be amazing to hear your feedback to help shape the full game into the folklore hunting, turn-based battling, book collecting adventure you are looking for!
