Hand Cannon Virtuoso changes
What's up party people 🥳
I shipped the 09-09 Content Update last night, should be queued next time you open Steam 👍
Per the #dev-schedule channel in the Discord, these Content Updates ship every other Wednesday and Patches ship as soon as they are ready. The main difference is that Content Updates will always have new content (levels, weapons, enemies, etc.) whereas Patches may just be bug fixes/addressing quick feedback/etc.
New Content
Valve Index Support!
Self-explanatory - my Index controllers got here and I was finally able to add Index support to the game :D Huge thank you to the Index beta testers who helped me test drive things!
6 New Weapon Cards!
Phantom Fists - Conjures ethereal fists that deliver powerful AOE smash attacks.
Laser Cannon - Chargeable laser blast that blows away your opponents.
Freeze Ray - Zaps enemies with a frosty bolt.
Snow Launcher - Launches globs of liquid nitrogen at your opponents. Brrr!
Frost Rockets - Hope your enemies like it cold!
Sludge Rockets - Blasts your enemies with corrosive sludge missiles.
My favorite new Weapon Cards from this batch are the Phantom Fists and Laser Cannon :)
New Room Type: Skill Tests!
Skill Tests are a new type of room that will now show up as you climb The Academy. Skill Tests stress skills like platforming and target shooting rather than combat. These new rooms help to change up pacing a bit but are much rarer than Combat Tests - the focus of the game remains combat.
This Content Update add 4 new Skill Tests but there will be many more to come in the future!
Feedback and Bugs Fixed
Aside from new content, this update has balance work, bug fixes, and polish. Much of the changes are based on great feedback from Discord community members playing the beta, so a big thank you to those folks.
Feedback and Polish
Reorganized HUD to make health more visible. Just moved Health display down to same spot as Ammo display. Less confusing to have them in the same spot.
Added enemy knockback via melee weapons, explosives, and swatting them away with your hand cannons.
Reduced Giga Tank's AOE
Added arrows to make objectives more clear during tutorial etc.
Added last + next Content Update dates to main menu.
Bug Fixes
Made it so same exact room will not repeat itself on the same floor.
Fixed edge case where replacing cards would fail sometimes.
Relaxed grip threshold for grabbing (was impacting some older controllers, like original Knuckles).
