We've also created a new trailer to celebrate this:
Below you’ll find a full overview of what’s inside this playtest, including new localizations, UI/UX upgrades, balance changes, performance improvements, and known issues.
Let’s get to it! 👇
What’s New in Open Playtest #2
New & Updated Content
Here’s everything you can expect in this build:
Classic character Cascade: the bounce-based projectile archetype you know and love.
Three weapon archetypes: SMGs, shotguns, and revolvers.
Two difficulty levels for the first biome.
Infinity Mode with its very own leaderboard!
Reworked weapon Origins: visually and mechanically overhauled, with stronger identity and more impactful parameter changes.
New Skill Tree, Runes, Synergies: the Skill Tree is now smaller but more straightforward; several elements were moved into Synergies and Runes for cleaner progression.
New Localizations
A fresh batch of languages is now available:
Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese (Brazil), Ukrainian, and German.
This set was added very recently, so localization bugs are to be expected, please report them, and we’ll patch them up as quickly as possible!
UI/UX & Quality of Life Improvements
- Completely updated menu visualsa cleaner, sharper, more modern look, plus new animations.
Menu restructuring: tabs reorganized and merged for faster, simpler navigation.
New Codex (draft version): includes explanations on Synergies, mechanics, and other systems.
Inventory sorting & filters for large weapon collections.
Simplified Forge interactions: upgrading and recycling now flow much smoother.
Balance Changes
Reduced the previously too spicy early-game difficulty.
Reworked weapon and resource drop chances for a gentler difficulty curve.
Lower Improve costs + higher Improve success rates.
Numerous tweaks to Skill Tree and Runes for better build variety and fairness.
Performance Improvements
Major optimizations focused on Infinity Mode to keep gameplay stable even during chaotic, high-enemy-density moments.
Known Issues
Infinity Mode drops may break or perks may behave oddly.
Minor audio glitches may occur.
Localization: some untranslated or missing text is expected.
Leaderboards may not display player names correctly.
Switching from windowed to fullscreen may cause visual artifacts.
Thank You & Have Fun!
Thank you so much for testing, reporting, and playing. Your feedback is already making Grind Survivors better, and this playtest is a huge step thanks to you.
