Hey everyone, We just checked 25 language boxes on our Coming Soon page, and we want to tell you what that actually means — because for Grimmloch, localization is not just menus and buttons.

Grimmloch is a collaborative storytelling game. The words players write to each other are the game. That means our translation pipeline has to handle roleplay — sarcasm, humor, suspense, emotional weight, cultural idiom. Not just "Press E to interact."

So we tested every language against a full tavern scene. A Jötunn bartender delivers a sarcastic joke, a branching conversation unfolds, tension builds, and the scene resolves. We ran all 25 languages through this passage twice.

Every single one passed.

Here are a few examples of how the bartender’s punchline landed:

German: „War nur ’n Scherz. Was darf’s sein, Fremder?“ French: « Je déconne ! Alors, qu’est-ce que tu prends, étranger ? » Czech: „Jo, jenom žert. Co to bude, cizinče?“ Brazilian Portuguese: „Tá brincando, é claro. O que vai ser, forasteiro?“

None of those are word-for-word translations. Every language found its own idiomatic voice. That is the difference between localization and replacement, and it is the standard we intend to hold for every piece of content in the game.

That is four writing systems — Latin, Cyrillic, Hebrew, and Arabic — including full right-to-left script support.

What this means for you:

We are building Grimmloch as a global home for roleplayers. Grimmloch launches February 15, 2027. We have eleven months to polish, and we intend to use every one of them.
