Welcome to 2020 - a new era, and the official start of Graffiti Bombing on Steam!

I'd like to share a brief project development / plan update with you. With a goal of giving you some more details and specifics about the work that is left to-do, before we can go to an initial release on Steam.

As you've probably noticed, the current release date for Graffiti Bombing says January 2020, and here we are... it's January already, and wow that arrived so fast! To be clear -- the project is not quite ready to launch yet -- and it's very likely that I'll be moving back the release date to the end of February 2020.

That said however - I do want to launch as soon as possible, and definitely before Half-life Alyx, as it's going to be madness around that time (and I want to play that so badly myself too!).

So to keep you updated, here is the low-down / info on a few things...

Coming soon video

First video draft (1 minute long) is already complete, along with the music. Currently editing and adding more graffiti content.

Looking to publish middle of January (Edit

now live!).

Graffiti Bombing Website: Site design is built and first draft of content is ready. Waiting for the video to be complete and then the site will go live, planning for middle of January as well (Edit: Delayed 1 week).

Project Development: As I've been preparing the promotional assets, graffiti and videos etc. for Steam, I've been playing the graffiti simulation quite a bit. This time spent has been really helpful for me to experience in-depth the graffiti tools, user experience and interactions etc. I've identified various things that require rework and adjustments, to improve and make the experience easier, more reliable and fun.

Current cards / tasks that need completing before beta:

  • Spray cans: object grabs and interactions require improvement / bug fixes.

  • Hand positions: need a way to adjust position as relates to spray can orientation.

  • Spray caps: are working well, however need to add more types and FX.

  • Spray can quick actions: UI requires tweaking / adjustment for usability.

  • Paint system: more optimization and improvements for multi-canvas.

  • Wall clean / fill / paint roller: systems requires more work and optimization.

  • Load / saving: across paint zones requires more optimization and improvement.

  • In-game help system: requires more content, images and video, plus another station.

  • Free to Play vs DLC: full-game systems requires final integration and testing.

  • Player calibration: system to calibrate the players height vs. object interactions.

  • Performance: optimization and testing across supported VR hardware devices.

  • Steam build: prepare for beta testing group, organize event and distribute build.

Supported VR Headsets: Some details on the VR hardware headsets we are developing for, and testing with.

  • Valve Index and Knuckles

  • HTC Vive and Wands

  • Oculus Rift and Touch

  • Oculus Quest and Touch (Oculus Link only)

  • Windows Mixed Reality (Samsung) and 6 DOF controllers

What's Next: Well, you can interact with us via the Steam community features, where we'll be sure to read all posts, and to reply where and when it makes sense. Building a good community for Graffiti Bombing is important. We're excited to discuss ideas, get your feedback, and are really looking forward to seeing what you all create in the future.

Or join the new (and empty) Graffiti Bombing group on Discord, here: Discord server: https://discord.gg/ZVkByeVyQG

So please bear with us, we're working hard to push things across the finish line -- as the project progresses over the next month or so, we'll continue to post updates and keep you notified as things happen.

Thanks all for your support and encouragement so far!
