Major update - Version 1.0.7

This is a big patch and for sure the last of 2023! First, I wish you a happy new year! This patch fixes many bugs and adds a few new features. There's going to be a version 1.0.

New features

  • Extra life in Hard Mode is now given at each 100K points instead of 50K to make this difficulty a little harder.

  • The level number is now displayed during the transition between levels.

  • The level number and statistics (kills, deaths, points, etc.) are displayed when you pause the game or when you game over. It's now possible to check if you collected all coins, if you're deathless, etc. if you try to tackle the medals.

Bugs and improvements

  • Fixed a bug that would softlock the player on the menu after beating the 1985 Arcade-Mode.

  • Fixed a bug where mashing the confirm button after starting a game would unselect/select a power during the transition.

  • Fixed a visual bug that would replay the transition animation if mashing "Restart" after a game over.

  • Fixed a bug that would result in a blue panel appearing above the gameplay when falling into the spikes.

  • Fixed a bug that would make the laser sound effects muted if you beat the game twice on the same gaming session. The volume was lowered but not set back to 0.0 for the next passthrough.

  • Fixed a visual bug in W4 where some exit doors were green.

  • Removed the "Combo Lost" mention if there is no active door combo. Also, it has been removed when opening the very last door in the escape sequence.

  • Replaced text for "Out of Time" with "Time's up/Temps écoulé"

  • Recentered the "Goliath Headquarters" logo. "Goliath" was offsetted to the left.

  • The Player-2 box in the player select screen is more vivid green than before.

  • When buying a new power, it now auto-picks it.

  • Added a black outline around the text showing the controls on the player select screen because the background was very light and it was hard to see.

  • The Gift Box enemies of W3 are triggered from further away in Hard Mode. It's when they see you at a distance of 120px in Normal Mode and now 168px in Hard Mode.

  • 2-5 (Hard Mode only) - the battery appearing in the middle of the screen was floating in the air. It now appears on the platform above as intended.

  • 2-6 - fixed a visual bug if hiding in a door behind the pressing machine

  • 2-Boss (2-player only) - fixed a bug where the health bar of the boss would be messed up after healing with the enemies.

  • 2-Boss (Hard Mode only) - added a few more enemies during the Mrs. Magnet phase

  • 4-7 (Hard Mode only) - fixed a bug where 2 boxes were spawning mid-air and inside of the wall. These two enemies were supposed to be Drones, so it has been replaced by Drones

  • 4-10 - the doors are now permanently closed after defeating the boss in order to fix an exploit that would result in the player closing all doors in a loop with no threat, and therefore making infinite points due to the combo.

  • 4-Boss - Improved selection of boss recall. It will not spawn the same boss until all 3 have been spawned once.

Major Improvements

Completely re-wrote the AI algorithm for the Yeti and the Security Guard. It affects levels 3-5, 3-9, 4-2, 4-4 and 4-10

  • They can jump down and up 1-tile stairs now, making it possible for them to go anywhere in 3-9 and not be softlocked in an area.

  • Their speed and jump height is now consistent from level to level (ex; the Yeti in 3-9 were faster than the Yeti in 3-5 which wasn't supposed to be). The Security Guard is also a little bit faster.

  • Their speed is increased in Hard Mode.

  • Fixed a bug that would make them run against a wall and stay still forever.

  • Fixed a bug that would make them staying still after being stunned and respawning.

Completely re-wrote the RNG of Sally Snowplow (W3 boss fight)

  • Sally Snowplow will now always appear next to a random opened door. It is easier to predict the RNG and not be frustrated because it won't appear far away from the last opened door.

  • During the "COIN" room, Sally Snowplow will drive at the bottom of the screen on the 2nd pass.

  • Fixed a bug where the Mini Snowplow were stuck and not moving after being stunned.

  • Fixed a bug that would cause invisible (despawned) enemies to still be active in the level and therefore being stunnable, resulting in kicking invisible enemies. This would make Pacifist almost impossible.

Improved Mr. Goliath fight in Hard Mode (W4 boss fight)

  • Mr. Goliath is a lot faster than in Normal Mode

  • More bullets and faster bullets during the "HA! HA! HA!" phase

  • More enemies are spawning when calling 1-800-GOLIATH

  • Big Box does its ground pound projectile attack when spawning

  • Mr. Magnet spawns more bullets.
