Or… the eighth? Anyway, it’s May! So may I inform you of the duties we fulfilled in the bygone April.
What we did last month:
1. We set up our Discord server! 🌐
We FINALLY set one up! If you’re interested in playtesting the demo or just want to stay updated on the game and its progress, consider joining our Discord server! We are currently still playtesting the game with people we know BUT we will transition into semi-public playtesting in the next couple of months with… you??? 😗
2. We made a new devlog! 🎞️
YEESSS!! 🥳 Alicia made a new devlog about our latest milestones: our soundtrack’s Live Score Recordings, Helio's House rework, and our new Discord server, as well as how things stand development wise. Be sure to check it out on YouTube!!!
3. We received playtesting feedback & implemented it! 📝
We again received approximately 2.5 hours of gameplay video footage from 2 external playtesters, which yielded 55 individual feedback points, 54 of which we fixed (Compost tiers saving & loading still doesn't work properly). In addition, we did some internal playtesting and implemented 33 minor fixes.
Here's a selection of some of the implemented external feedback fixes:
Ingame time didn’t process due to an AmbientManager.Tick error on first start of the game (!!!game breaking!!! but is now fixed)
Crop UI didn’t show if plant is complete or not (has a percentage displayed now)
Compost wasn’t auto-watered by rain
Seeding on rain should result in instant perfect watering
Quest reward is now spawned on player position if inventory is full
And what are we currently working on?
1. We are trying to get more playtesting feedback! 📝
Based on the feedback of the last two months, we've reduced the size of our demo (previously it took up to 2.5 hours, now around 40 minutes to complete). We're currently sending this smaller version out to our wider network and aim for two feedback and implementation iterations this month. 😇
2. We’re polishing demo-relevant assets! 💅
Besides polishing the code and gameplay (which is what playtesting is intended to achieve), we're also polishing our art assets. The UI and environment clipping, in particular, should be improved in the coming months.
