Elaborates Anyway

The last three weeks we wrapped everything up related to monster spawning. We did the bare minimum of putting everything into place and didn't spend any time polishing. Our goal these days is to make content with all the intended gameplay features. The video shows the state before refining and polishing. This monster was also done with the content pipeline we use for modding. That's why things look extra raw compared to the demo. What you can currently play was made with the legacy content pipeline and a lot of things still need to be ported.

Modding Side Effects

The cool thing about the modding aspect is that we try to make all our assets as moddable as possible and that comes with a lot of cool side effects. This week we tried to set up the game logic for the waifu pillows with modding in mind, instead of relying on a hard-coded effect. As a result, we accidentally created the baseline to have multiple kinds of dakimakuras.

Trying to make things as accessible for modders forces us to make our assets as flexible as possible. The monster in the video is composed of only four different pre-made setups. As time progresses and we create more tentacles, bullet patterns and small monsters, we can apply them to anything we made before. Since we recycle all our assets, any tuning applies to all of them. And should we decide to add a bit of randomization here and there, that randomization will also be applied to everything.

Next Steps

Right now we want to make Level 06 to Level 09 in that style so we can see how powerful our content pipeline is and how much time we need for the actual production. If you like, we can try to make more videos like the one we posted today. However, we will keep everything after level 09 for us.
