Game Quest: The Backlog Battler changes
A week ago, barely anyone was wishlisting or playing the demo, I was in the middle of refactoring a bunch of code during the lul in traffic, to make it easier to experiment with multiplayer coop (no promises!)
Then out of nowhere, some guy (@IndieGameJoe) posted everywhere. The X post specifically, ended up with 2.9mil views.
Suddenly, the Discord wasn't quiet anymore, bug reports were flying (apologies to those who caught the 'work-in-progress' refactor build!), and the wishlist count headed for the moon.
Immediate pressing bugs have now been fixed, I've been making a quick TODO list of bugs/features, so you guys know the mini-roadmap for the near future (I still need to finish this refactoring I'm in the middle of before I'll action this list though):
Write daily script to update old games data
See if I can allow some games (Baldur's gate 3 etc) even though it's NSFW (reported by a guy on the Steam forums)
Work out the trigger for the friend bug where it allows the play list button but loads the host's list instead
Fix auto reset to epic gfx settings bug - make sure the auto hardware check actually works?
Scale health better, players with shitloads of games have a lot less hp for games (whale mode maybe? One ongoing wave until the games run out)
Fix immortal streamer games? (It would seem? sometimes?)
Add Mouse sensitivity in settings
Make allies faster (and immune to friendly fire)
Fix enemies getting stuck behind shop
Allow streamer mode to use game name instead of ID, work out another metric for HP (can't use reverse time played when any game can be spawned)
As a solo developer balancing this with a full-time career, I’m tackling these as fast as my weekends allow. Thank you for your patience while I navigate this sudden growth!
Please join the discord if you have some ideas for game tags or design; I managed to develop a working game based on the constrictions of the Steam game library, -BUT- THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING!
The game now needs to be fun!
I have a plan (which I will address in another post) and I've read a bunch of great new ideas (the more the merrier!). There are so many things I can do with attributes from the Steam game library.
If you like this game, please check out other games from my region of the world (Western Australia); Many will be in the ANZ Indifest Steam festival starting this Saturday:

(I'm particularly looking forward to Frostliner and Signs of Danger, personally)
