Forsaken Shores changes
Early Access Release
Over the past couple months, I’ve been hard at work making improvements, balancing gameplay, and adding new content. Here’s a look at what’s included in this release.
Map Updates
Added Spider Caves to both maps.
Added a Trader to the large map.
Added Ogre Caves and Forts.
Added dynamic weather to both maps.
Adjusted several enemy spawner locations and enemy level progression.
Gameplay Updates
Boss Improvements
Rebalanced boss attacks and abilities.
Improved loot rewards.
Better damage scaling based on enemy level.
Added Spider Eggs that spawn spiders when the colored eggs are destroyed.
Added a Light Spell that illuminates the area around players, making nighttime exploration and caves much easier.
Added a new enemy damage type: Dark Burn, which burns the target while reducing their armor.
Improved multiplayer save and load functionality.
Made several UI improvements.
Fixed numerous bugs.
Item Upgrade Changes
Item upgrades have been reworked to provide better progression.
As an item's rarity increases, the cost of upgrading it also increases.
Each rarity tier now provides larger stat increases when upgraded.
Upgrade Bonuses
Common: +1 stat per upgrade (Maze items remain +1 regardless of rarity.)
Uncommon: +2 stats
Rare: +3 stats
Epic: +4 stats
Legendary: +5 stats
Mythic: +6 stats
Quest Updates
Two new town improvement questlines have been added through the NPCs Jack and Fred.
Any player can complete these quests.
Permanent town upgrades are only applied to the Host's world.
Jack
Upgrades and strengthens the town walls.
Fred
Expands the town's farmland, increasing its food supply.
Maze Improvements
Chest loot now scales more appropriately with maze level.
Maze layouts have been redesigned with fewer dead ends and more interconnected paths.
All enemies in the maze now drop Maze Coins.
Defeating the maze boss now spawns an individual reward chest for every player within range, replacing the boss's direct loot drops.
Maze weapons, armor, and jewelry now have item levels based on the level of the boss defeated. Higher-level items have stronger stats and can be upgraded using Maze Coins.
I also want to take a moment to say thank you to everyone who has supported this project.
Game development has never been my career. I'm a disabled United States Marine Corps veteran who has always loved playing video games. A little over two years ago, after feeling like there weren't many new games that captured my interest, I decided to challenge myself and create a game of my own.
It has been an incredible learning experience. Every system, mechanic, feature, and bug has taught me something and frustrated me as well. Building a game has given me a whole new appreciation for everything that goes into game development.
I couldn't have done this without my wife, who has been my biggest supporter, constant play-tester, and source of encouragement throughout this entire journey.
To everyone who buys the game, please help me improve the game by reporting bugs, sharing feedback, or simply supported the project—thank you. Your support means a lot to me and will help make this game better, and I hope you enjoy everything that's been added to this release.
