Forecursed changes
Update 02, the one that makes things run smoothly, is finally here. It took a little longer than originally planned and the reason why is addressed later down this post. This update should hopefully enhance the game's performance and bring it to a good place for most PCs out there. I also wanted to add a little something more than just optimizations, so there's a new option in the hub to change your color before the game starts.
What's New:
Graphics Settings
You can now lower the graphics if you have a hard time running the game. These settings are set to medium by default and should accommodate most hardware.
Color Selection
In the lobby, you now have access to this new terminal that allows you to change your suit's color before jumping in the teleporter.
What Changed:
Levels have been tweaked to run better on most hardware. Some areas and effects may not look the same.
The game will now ask for confirmation before closing if the Quit Game button was pressed during a match.
The pause menu now has a button to invite friends
Tasing someone will lift their visor
The curse can now replenish oxygen when picking it up
What should be fixed:
Golem will no longer be able to grab someone if they're receiving the curse
Fixed an issue with the curse animation not playing while it's being passed on, resulting in one character standing up during the event.
Taser's sound effect should now play at the correct location when using a taser that was picked up off the ground
What comes next for Forecursed:
This segment will touch on some personal stuff and the state of the project as it is right now. I want to be completely transparent and tell it like it is. When I released this game, I wasn't expecting to reach the stars and become the next big thing, but I had set some fair goals for myself. Jumping in the world of indie development is scary, especially from a financial point of view. I'd very much like to be able to afford food and a place to live. With that being said, I'm afraid to say that this project is providing for none of the above. It became increasingly hard for me to work on the game full-time, and that really took its toll on my mental health as well. As the numbers were reaching an all time low, so was I. As of right now, I can no longer work on Forecursed full-time. I have found another job, I'm getting my life back in order and this project will be sidelined for the foreseeable future. I want to keep working on it on my spare time, but I can't make that a promise. Sorry to everyone who truly gave the game a shot and supported it all the way through. Game development is my dream, it's my passion, but the world of publishing and marketing is a brutal one. I've learned a lot and I hope that I can continue my journey by creating more fun stuff in the future.
