FluxWerks — Updates v0.2.1 to v0.2.5

Summary of everything that has changed across the last five updates.

v0.2.5 — 07-06-2026

New Features

  • Cooler MK 1 — A new active electric cooler that pumps water through to aggressively remove heat from the surrounding area. Requires power and water. Target temperature is adjustable via the thermostat. Unlocked through the new Active Cooling research.

  • Ore Remaining Display — The extractor inspector now shows how many ore voxels remain in the current deposit, along with an estimated total amount.

Improvements

  • Heat Simulation — Heat spread is now more linear across a wider area, preventing extreme temperature spikes from forming inside buildings.

  • Extractor Auto-Select — When placing an extractor over a deposit with only one available ore type, it is now automatically selected.

  • Slider Input Fix — Movement keys (WASD) no longer accidentally adjust slider values when a building inspector panel is open.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed buildings incorrectly reading temperature from the wrong location, causing thermostats and efficiency to behave unexpectedly.

  • Fixed buildings becoming broken and unselectable when moving far away.

  • Fixed a crash that could occur during world streaming.

  • Fixed the player being able to move outside the world boundaries after loading a save.

  • Fixed rotating a belt giving the player free items.

  • Fixed the Steam Turbine outputting 1 water per 1 steam consumed, making a fully closed-loop steam system possible with no resource loss. The turbine now outputs 0.5 water per steam, requiring fresh water input to sustain the loop.

Balance Changes

  • Fluid Extractor MK 1construction cost changed from 6× Steel Plate to 6× Iron Frame + 2× Motor.
  • Heat Sink MK 1fluid flow rate doubled, heat transfer effectiveness greatly increased. Moved from the Production category to the Temperature category in the build menu.

v0.2.4 — 06-06-2026

New Features

  • Night Brightness Setting — A new option in Display & Graphics lets you choose how dark nights appear: Dark (full atmosphere), Medium (reduced darkness), or Bright (matches daytime visibility).

Improvements

  • Quick Belt & Pipe Removal — Hold Shift while placing belts or pipes to remove individual tiles, or hold Ctrl to remove an entire segment, without switching to a separate delete mode.

  • Area Selection Tool — The selection box no longer cancels automatically after confirming, so you can immediately mark another area. Targeting accuracy improved when selecting over elevated or uneven terrain.

  • Building Placement Arrow — The directional arrow shown when placing buildings now always faces the camera, making it easier to see the intended orientation.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed the UI scale setting not being applied correctly when restarting the game.

  • Fixed the pipette tool (V) not working correctly when targeting a belt or pipe — it now properly copies the hovered belt or pipe and activates the corresponding build mode.

v0.2.3 — 06-06-2026

Improvements

  • Building Menu Tier Selection — Buildings with multiple tiers are now grouped into a single card in the building menu. Scroll the mouse wheel over the card to switch between tiers.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed multi-level technologies being impossible to queue for further upgrades after completing the first level.

  • Fixed in-progress research being reset to zero when loading a saved game.

  • Fixed Sand and Limestone not appearing as filter options on the resource scanner after researching their detection technologies.

Balance Changes

  • Mining Drill MK1: no longer requires Computing capacity to operate.

v0.2.2 — 05-06-2026

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed UI panels not correctly blocking camera zoom, tool use, and scroll interactions when the UI scale setting was set above or below 100%.

  • Fixed routers getting stuck when a connected output belt was removed while an item was already assigned to exit in that direction.

v0.2.1 — 05-06-2026

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed movement direction being offset in third-person mode when camera sensitivity was set to anything other than 1.0 in the settings.
