changedFluff at the Indie Game FestIt's that time again: the Indie Game Fest has taken place on July 11 and 12! A huge bunch of talented indie developers have gathered at the Wasserturm Hotel in Cologne to show you their games. I was also looking forward to showing you Fluff again this year. Here are some of my personal highlights of the event:
fixedThe second level is almost completeI have been working on the second level for about six months now. And slowly but surely, development is nearing completion, as I have finished modeling the second and final part of the level. This means that there was a first test run of this new level at the Indie Game Fest. I'm quite proud that this time I've done a lot more modeling and relied less on fixed assets. Stylistically, the second level takes us to a darker environment that is unusual for Fluff, where you have to work with colored lights to solve puzzles. The puzzles will also be a bit more difficult, as Fluff's brain is already well warmed up after the first level.
addedAccessoirizing NOW! Clothing shopOne of the features I wanted to have for a long time: You can now spend your hard earned coins at a clothing shop to let Fluff explore in style. Let me know what clothing you would like Fluff to wear!
addedSteam Deck CompatibilityAbout three months ago, I got a new toy. A small but extremely powerful Steam Deck! I am thrilled with how powerful this device is. And of course, one of my first thoughts was: Will it be possible to experience Fluff's cuteness on the small screen? At first, it didn't look good: Fluff's Adventure ran with unacceptable performance (5-15 fps), even with low graphics settings—and those don't look particularly nice.

Fluff at the Indie Game Fest

It's that time again: the Indie Game Fest has taken place on July 11 and 12! A huge bunch of talented indie developers have gathered at the Wasserturm Hotel in Cologne to show you their games. But of course, I was not showing the old stuff from a year ago, that would be boring. Which brings us to the next topics...

The second level is almost complete

I have been working on the second level for about six months now.

I have used the Indie Game Fest to get your feedback on how to improve the level, which was really valuable for me! The integration of the feedback will take some time, as well as wrapping up the second level. But, since I want to keep you informed, here are some screenshots of the 2nd level's current state:

Accessoirizing NOW! Clothing shop

One of the features I wanted to have for a long time: You can now spend your hard earned coins at a clothing shop to let Fluff explore in style. Let me know what clothing you would like Fluff to wear!

Steam Deck Compatibility

About three months ago, I got a new toy.

Over the past few months, I've worked hard on the game's performance, especially the first level. And I can announce:

  1. The game now looks comparatively good even with low graphics settings, and

  2. Fluff's Adventure is now playable at 30fps on the Steam Deck with decent graphics! It was a huge amount of work, but it benefits all of you, even if you don't own a Steam Deck. That's because the optimizations also affect the desktop version, which should please those of you without high-tech PCs.

You can see the overall performance here:

Here are all new quality levels, back to back:

That's all well and good, but when will I see the changes?...

I'm sure many of you are wondering that right now. Well I have good and bad news The good news first: I uploaded a new Demo Build with improved performance and Steam Deck compatibility already! So feel free to hop into the game with your Steam Deck or PC! Now to the bad news: I will need some time to finish the second level. I keep you updated, but there is still much more to do, before you can enjoy the continuation of Fluffs story. So keep an eye out to my Twitch, YouTube or Instagram channel! I will keep you updated there. Cheers Kai
