Hey everyone!

We thought that this might be a good time to share some development news about the game, for anyone interested!

However, before we get into any of the details here, we'd just like to thank all of you for playing the game, leaving reviews and bug reports and of course giving us your feedback! It's been incredibly helpful for us, both in terms of improving the game (by fixing bugs), but also for planning our next steps!

Most of our development time immediately following the release has been spent on fixing bugs, which will of course be an ongoing process, as you can imagine!

Beyond just patches and bugfixes though, we've also been collecting feedback from players, reading reviews and watching players play the game on Youtube, Twitch and social media!

Based on all of that feedback, we have been working on a patch/content update (which we'll just call version 1.1 for now) that we're hoping to release in early December!

So, what's next for Flick Shot Rogues?

We don't want to spoil too much here (and we will have a more detailed announcement when the patch releases in a few weeks), but just to give you a rough idea of what to expect, here goes:

"What does this enemy actually do?"

One of the most common pieces of player feedback has been the lack of information on enemies and their attacks. Put simply, a lot of players felt like they needed more information about what's going to happen in the enemies' turn when planning their flick, and we agree!

Which is why we've been working on adding a new'enemy info system'to the game:

It works exactly as you might expect - click on any enemy and a little info sheet pops up that shows you all you need to know about that specific enemy: its name, behaviour, HP, currently charged attacks, the damage its attacks will do, whether or not players can interrupt their attacks, and so on...

We're still polishing some of the visuals, but the system is already implemented & working and we hope it will give players the tools to navigate the Island's dangers more predictably in the future!

Doom Level Adjustments

We've also been working on adjusting and rebalancing the current Doom Level system, based on your feedback.

We won't go into too much detail here, but with version 1.1 we're aiming to give new players a smoother ramp up in difficulty (as they progress through the Doom Levels), while also providing more experienced players tools to increase the game's difficulty earlier (for all those high-level flick-experts out there).

A few changes to accomplish this goal will be:

  1. Reducing the number of main Doom Levels from 10 to a more manageable number of somewhere around 5

  2. Unlocking the Circle of Doom earlier (essentially after clearing Doom Level 5)

At this point, ~97% of players might be wondering what this Circle of Doom actually is - which is completely understandable, since almost no one actually unlocked it (it requires beating Doom Level 9 in version 1.0, which is extremely difficult).

Steam post image (The UI shown here is not finalized yet and will continue to change over the next few weeks.)

Put simply, the Circle of Doom is a menu that allows players to activate additional run modifiers and curses to create their own custom Doom Levels - we hope by making this system accessible earlier, more players will get the chance to actually play around with it!

More Content

Finally, we also have more content planned for version 1.1, which we'll get into in detail later! For now, here's just a quick overview over what to expect:

  • New trinkets, curses and more hero + relic upgrade variants

  • New arenas

  • New hero variants

  • ...and of course lots of bugfixes and improvements!

Anyway, thanks for reading this far! We hope you'll like what we have in store for you in early December! (EDIT: Small correction - the new update will include new arenas. Sorry for any potential confusion!)
