Fleetbreakers changes
Hi everyone,
This week, we're pulling back the curtain on one of our newest creations: the Corruptor Unit.
This unit was an absolute blast to design and build, and it holds a few critical ideas that we were excited to bring to life in the game.
The Source of the Corruption
The main visual theme for the Corruptor Unit was to take those creepy, tentacled "barnacles" you've seen on other corrupted enemy units and give them a more structured, organized look. The idea is that this ship is the primary, central source of the corruption infection.
To show this, we housed that recognizable tentacle-brain mass right in the center of the ship. However, the rest of the ship is kept clean and sleek, helping to reinforce its role as the source, not just another victim, of the infection.
Multi-Wing Design
The other major piece of inspiration was the desire for a cool X-wing style setup. We thought this unit, which is quite significant in gameplay as the one responsible for unit conversion, was the perfect place to introduce that layered, multi-wing design.
It gives the unit a distinctive profile and makes it feel like the powerful, crucial unit it is in the game's mechanics.
