April Update Preview - Plaza Updates and Customization

We’re still developing the April update for Final Third. We’ve had a lot of feedback and suggestions from players who played during our pre-alpha tests, and we’re still trying to bring as much of that as possible to the next test.

We’re working hard on improving tackling, the overall feel of the game, and so many other things that we want to show you. But they’re not quite ready to showcase. Today we’re going to take a look at some of the changes that have happened to the Plaza, some of the customization options, and also get some input on something we’ve been debating internally.

Looking For Team

We've added a small "Looking for Team" area near the team pitches to make it easier to find players who are looking to join premade teams.

One of our main directions with Final Third is to recreate the idea of pickup soccer, so building a little area to easily find other players to play with felt super natural for us.

Character Customizing

We’re also bringing character customization to Final Third. You’ll be able to mix body types with different faces and hair styles to truly create something unique to you.

Here are just a couple of our creations so far. The whole customization feature is still in development, so it still looks just a little rough, but we hope it gives you an idea of what we're aiming for with our customization systems.

And this is where we need your input. We’re currently working on implementing costumes and outfits for characters.

Should all outfits be available to all (regardless of gender), be gender locked, or a mix of both?

We are currently debating internally which option is the best, and figured it would be better to ask you guys instead of guessing how you would feel about it! You can join our discord and vote on our polls, or leave comments to this post and we'll add your choices to the final poll results.

We wanted to give you an example of what we were thinking of, so we mocked up the following:

Face Off

We also want to show one of the other things that we're working on, which is a quick scene at the beginning of a match to show each of the players in better detail. Both teams will face off against each other very briefly when the match starts, allowing them to showcase their unique styles and outfits. Steam post image
