changedMedusa, The GorgonIf you've read the past update, you'll recognise this, but I figured I'll probably just explain what the "final concept" of Medusa ended out being. Medusa will play a lot of cards, she'll regularly play cards that increase the player's mortis over time, while also allowing her to play additional cards each turn. Naturally, she also "entombs" your cards, turning them to stone and rendering them unplayable, but still discardable.
fixedBalance and FixesR34P now only burns your leftmost card in hand, instead of your whole hand, when it fires.
fixedBalance and FixesE.O.D. now can not discard itself.
fixedBalance and FixesSome boss cards weren't unlocking - fixed that! If you've beat any bosses but didn't get a card from them, check your card index, they should unlock automatically when you check it.
changedBalance and FixesChanged how card fetching works "behind the scenes" to allow cards that are not unlocked to be inserted into decks.
addedBalance and FixesEdit: Forgot to add - Dreams Domain got nerfed! You should find the veil mechanic far less frustrating. Considering changing the effect to be less subtle too, but that isn't in this update so far.

Welcome or Welcome Back!

So I recognise this is a short time since the last devlog, which was literally yesterday, but I've realised I'm not going to have time later this week to work on the game due to home renovation, so I cranked out what was going to be the midweek update today.

Not a huge update, mind, but it does feature:

Medusa, The Gorgon

If you've read the past update, you'll recognise this, but I figured I'll probably just explain what the "final concept" of Medusa ended out being. Medusa will play a lot of cards, she'll regularly play cards that increase the player's mortis over time, while also allowing her to play additional cards each turn. Naturally, she also "entombs" your cards, turning them to stone and rendering them unplayable, but still discardable.

Consequently, it's very easy to get into a position where Medusa is able to play 5 cards a turn, stacking her over time effects and entombing your hand, leading to a slow control-through-playrate style of play. This is also the first boss who's boss unlock actually features as a part of the boss battle, as you get 5 "mirror shards" shuffled into your deck at the start of the battle.

Mirror Shard

As might be obvious, Mirror Shard, Medusa's unlock for beating her, is specifically good against her, but is also just a 0 cost cleanse. Naturally any other bosses that end up using entomb may see you playing this when you build your deck against them.

Balance and Fixes

  • R34P now only burns your leftmost card in hand, instead of your whole hand, when it fires.

  • E.O.D. now can not discard itself.

  • Some boss cards weren't unlocking - fixed that! If you've beat any bosses but didn't get a card from them, check your card index, they should unlock automatically when you check it.

  • Changed how card fetching works "behind the scenes" to allow cards that are not unlocked to be inserted into decks.

  • Edit: Forgot to add - Dreams Domain got nerfed! You should find the veil mechanic far less frustrating. Considering changing the effect to be less subtle too, but that isn't in this update so far.

Till next time!
