Welcome to the third Campfire Checkpoint!
Hi Fellows,
We’ve got a lot to talk about today, covering where we are with development, what we’ve been working on behind the scenes, and what you can expect coming up next. As always, this is a chance for us to step back, give you a clearer picture of our direction, and address some of the ongoing feedback from the community.
So grab a snack, maybe a mug of something warm, and settle in. Welcome to the Campfire Checkpoint.
EARLY ACCESS SEASON 3 - Focus
We want to take a moment to briefly talk about where our focus is right now and how we are approaching the development of Seasons moving forward.
At our core, we’re a small team with a big vision. That means every decision we make needs to matter at a large scale. While we believe it is important to experiment and take some risks in order to potentially find exciting new ways to experience Fellowship, for Season 3 we have been placing more focus on the core gameplay systems and content. This includes new Dungeons, a rework of the Itemization, revisiting progression systems, Talent Reworks, and new ways to improve queue times. These are just some examples of what we’re working on, and we can’t wait to show you more of what’s coming next.
ROUGH TIMELINE (more info coming soon)
In case you missed the little “spoiler” on Discord, EAS3 is currently planned for a June release. We know you’ll want a more exact date, but for now we’re keeping that internal while we finish locking things in.
What’s coming before launch?
In mid-May, we’ll be running a closed test with quite a large group of players, akin to a PTR. The goal here is to catch issues early, gather focused feedback, and give ourselves time to iterate before release. As we get closer, we’ll share details on how you can sign up and participate.
What’s included in EAS3 (current high-level plan):
Creatively, we wanted to start the new season with something fresh and interesting. With the introduction of our new enemy race, the Heskyr, we're entering a timeline where blood is the main theme of the season. The Heskyr are after something, and we need to stop them from achieving their goals. They have a plan, and whatever it is, it's sure to spell an ill omen for us all. With this, we will visit places where the Heskyr are up to no good, and we will need to stop them in their tracks!
We know that you, our Fellows, have been yearning for more dungeon content! We have worked passionately to create interesting new settings for you to enjoy: From rigid snow ridges to murky moors, a bright and sunny desert to a dark tomb. You will traverse through many biomes and encounter many new and interesting foes. Maybe you will even carve a bloody path with our upcoming hero?
An early sneak peek of some concept art of the new dungeons:Steam post image
Please note that names are not final and subjected to change.
Snowy Peaks:
Far to the North, high up on snowy peaks, sits an ancient sentinel tower. Clouded by a feeling of impending doom, seers have come to the Allied Races to warn them of foreboding visions of corruption in the region.
Moor Castle:
A dilapidated keep in the murky lands of the West has become surrounded by restless spirits of the dead, indicating a disturbance in the peace by way of a long forgotten Reliquary. The Heskyr are en route to extract the blood from the reliquary.
SAND TEMPLE - Pinnacle Dungeon:
Deep in the deserts of the East resides a massive, towering structure. Its walls are strong and bold, shielding an ancient reliquary. The Heskyr and their Arbiter operate within, fulfilling the Blood Oath to their God.
What is a Pinnacle Dungeon?
A Pinnacle Dungeon is a new type of experience that unlocks as you progress through the leagues.
It is not designed to be something you farm repeatedly. Instead, it’s intended as a weekly challenge, something you push to complete at the highest level you can. It’s a true “chase” dungeon, built to test your skill, coordination, and mastery of the game.
Pinnacle Dungeons exist as their own category, separate from the regular dungeon tiers. They are meant to stand apart as a high-difficulty goal for players looking to push themselves and take on the toughest challenges available.
Who are the Heskyr?
The Heskyr have started to appear all over. A relentless group of devotees, their core beliefs revolve around blood. To them, blood is a currency owed to reality itself. The blood debt is now due.
In the outskirts of the inhabited world the Heskyr have been preparing for their God's return. The great Blood Moon of Hemonae will soon again sit close to the planet surface.
The Heskyr wish to coincide the activation of the ancient blood of the corrupted old god with this 'Bloodrise'.
The god they worship had once perished in a hail of shards, hammering the lands below. These crystalized fragments were found and then stored in reliquaries. This was done to safekeep the natural order of the world from the fragments' contamination. The structures housing the reliquaries are now husks of their former selves, and the blood of the gods has long since been extracted.
However, there are signs of reliquaries yet intact. The Heskyr must not get to them first.
New Hero Preview
You’ll also be getting a new melee DPS, 'Gunde' (the name is subject to change). He’ll have a proper teaser later, but here’s what we've mentioned so far:
Viking berserker fantasy
Focuses on managing debuffs on enemies
High paced gameplay
More accessible and less mechanically demanding than other melee Heroes
We’ve heard your feedback around melee complexity, and 'Gunde' is a step toward making that playstyle more approachable without losing its edge.
Major updates to itemization throughout the game
As you already know, Fellowship’s itemization design is most likely receiving a major update this season. Each uniquely named item will have a fixed set of stats (as before), however, they will now also have a number of random stat slots and random modifiers. The amount of randomized stats and modifiers an item can have is determined by its rarity level (Green, Blue, Purple, Yellow, Red).
With this change, we have also reworked item rarity. Rarity is no longer determined by the League it was dropped in. In the new system, all Leagues have a chance to drop items of any of the rarities.
The incentive to progress through the Leagues and play higher difficulty dungeons is now entirely focused on increasing the Item Level of the items - which determines the magnitude of the stat values on an item. We have also made some changes to how items drop and upgrading works once players get to Eternal, which we can share more information about leading up to EAS3. We are working to incentivize players to climb the difficulties to progress their power - rather than farming Eternal 1 only as the optimal gearing process.
Random Modifiers can be an additional Random Stat, a Socket, a Set Bonus, a Trait (previously from Weapon Traits), and Ability Ranks (new). The higher the rarity is, the more Random Modifiers an item can have up to a maximum of 3 at “Red” rarity (rarity names still pending).
The Rarity of an item also determines how many times you can upgrade that item, meaning high Rarity items can reach a higher Item Level through upgrading - and so will have a longer life-span as you progress up through the difficulties.
We are still playtesting and tuning the new Itemization system, so changes are still very likely to occur between now and the start of EAS3.
Hopefully this gives you a better idea of what this change is, and how it opens up the game for more creativity in regards to how players can choose to build out their characters and focus in varying degrees on the different progression systems. For example, the latest change we are testing now is inflating the stat value numbers on lower rarity items - to somewhat balance the Rarities to avoid making the new loot system become a “Red Rarity Drop or Bust” scenario. This means you may still be using a few Green Rarity items with the right stat types on them due to them providing a large and consistent bonus to those stats. We’ll be talking more about this later down the line as we continue fine-tuning the system.
Hero talent reworks
We have decided to remove generic defensive talents from all Heroes talent trees and replace them with new, output-focused options. Below are a few examples of new talents for some of the heroes, to give an idea of what these new talents will bring to the table.
NOTE: The numbers have not been playtested. They are just examples.
Helena Examples:
Resonant Bulwark (3 points) - Your [Shield Slam] applies 1 stack of [Resonant Bulwark] to the target up to 10 stacks. Critical Strikes apply 2 stacks. Your next [Shockwave] consumes all stacks of [Resonant Bulwark], increasing [Shockwave’s] damage by 10% per stack consumed, and stunning enemies hit for 0.2 seconds for each stack consumed.
Some examples of “Core” updates to Helena:
[Charge] no longer has a minimum range.
[Charge] no longer has the [Veteran of War] mechanic.
[Hold the Line] now has the [Veteran of War] mechanic that [Charge] previously had.
[Sweeping Strike] now causes Helena to replenish 4% of her maximum Health every 1 second for 12 seconds in addition to its previous function.
[Shield Throw] now generates Toughness based on the damage it deals.
[Shockwave] now generates 25% Toughness.
The previous Toughness generation of Helena’s abilities have been adjusted to compensate for above changes.
Rime Examples:
- Icy Talons (3 points)Swaps out both your spenders for 2 new spenders; [Talon Strike] and [Rising Talons]. Both abilities are instant cast, and spend all your Winter Orbs, causing spikes of ice to impale enemies from beneath their feet, dealing X% [Glacial Blast] or [Ice Comet] damage respectively. The amount of Winter Orbs spent determines how many spikes are summoned. [Talon Strike] and [Rising Talons] benefit from all talents that affect [Glacial Blast] and [Ice Comet].
Cold Shower (2 points): Each tick of [Freezing Torrent] has a chance to cast a free [Ice Comet] on the target.
Ardeos Examples:
- Apocalyptic Surge (1 Point)Your [Apocalypse] cast time is reduced by 1.5 seconds and when successfully cast grants you 2 stacks of [Apocalyptic Surge]. Your next [Detonate] consumes 1 stack of [Apocalyptic Surge], but does not consume Burning Embers.
Cascading Inferno (1 Point): Each time you cast Detonate, you gain 1 stack of Cascading Inferno, up to 20 stacks. At 8 stacks, your next [Infernal Wave] consumes 8 stacks and has +300% Critical Strike chance.
Mara Examples:
Macabre Stratagem (1 Point): Your [Final Stratagem] ability is replaced with [Macabre Stratagem]. [Macabre Stratagem] grants you 10 seconds of [Dance Macabre] (your Spirit Ability effect). If [Macabre Stratagem] is used while [Dance Macabre] is active, it extends [Dance Macabre’s] duration by 10 seconds.
- Seething Burst (1 Point)Your [Seething Poison] damage has a 20% chance to erupt on the target, causing all nearby enemies to take 220% Agility poison damage. The damage of [Seething Burst] is increased by X% where X is equal to your Haste %.
Sylvie Examples:
- Shimmering Wings (2 Points)The healing of your [Fluttercall: Heal] is increased by 25% on targets that have [Fluttercall: Restore Life] active on them.
Symbiosis (2 Points): Each time your [Prickly Vines] deal damage, your active [Life Petal] triggers an additional tick of its healing at 25% power. Additionally, your [Prickly Vines] deal 12% more damage for each player that has [Fluttercall: Heal] active on them.
Vigour Examples:
Grand Proliferation (3 points): While [Runic Proliferation] is active, your [Soulbrand], [Rune of Renewal], and [Luminous Barrier] is cast on up to 4 targets at 120% power, as long as you have 2 Radiant Runes to spend.
- Divine Light (1 Point)Every 4 casts of [Radiant Blast] grants you [Divine Light], causing your next [Circle of Light] to be Free and have 100% increased healing.
Enduring Light (2 Points): When your [Circle of Light] heals a player, they are healed for an additional 50% of the initial heal over 12 seconds, accumulatively.
“Odd-Comp”
We’ve been experimenting and playtesting a new way to play Fellowship, that we are internally referring to as “Odd-comp” at the moment. This allows players to match-make into groups that are role-agnostic (3 tanks, 1 DPS anyone?).
The group receives a number of bonuses and modifiers depending on the comp to provide tools to be able to clear dungeons regardless of the roles.
Right now, we’re exploring this as an opt-in feature, as it has the potential to significantly reduce queue times for players who are open to experimenting with more unconventional “odd-comp” setups. Internally, we’ve been surprised by just how fun these compositions are to play. Figuring out how to approach different pulls and bosses with these modifiers has created some really engaging and fresh gameplay moments.
There are still details to work through, especially around how we introduce this without compromising the “Holy Trinity,” which is a core part of the Fellowship experience. More details to come!
MEET SOME OF OUR CREATORS
A few weeks ago, we launched a new initiative where you can sign up to be part of our Creator Program. If you missed it and are interested, you can still apply by filling out this form.
Invites will be rolling out in waves, so don’t worry if you haven’t heard back yet or think you’ve missed your chance. In the meantime, here’s a short introduction from some of our creators. Be sure to go show them some love!
Ciri:
"Hello, I'm Ciri and I love to draw the cutest things I can find! Sylvie is my favourite character to play and to draw. I've never played this type of game before, and as a beginner, I found her kit to be really easy to understand. I'm still working on getting to 10k though! You can catch most of my Fellowship related art on the Discord server's fanart channel, but you can also see more of my work on my Bluesky!
Steam post imageI'm excited to create more Fellowship art! See you in-game <3"
GooberTroy:
"Hello Friends, GooberTroy here (you can call me Goober) and I'm excited to be a part of this wonderful community!
I have been playing Fellowship since the initial Public Steam Next Fest demos and I've been a big fan of what Chief Rebel has been creating ever since. I've played a bit of every hero at this point, but Mara and Tariq have been my mains since entering EA-Season 1 (I like Melee DPS). If you've been to the Mara Discord channel, you've likely seen me answering questions, theory crafting builds, or helping to maintain and organize all info about Mara.
I was first drawn to Fellowship because I come from a World of Warcraft background, but specifically in the Mythic Raiding scene. I was never really interested in the Mythic+ Dungeon system Fellowship is inspired by - not because of lack of interest, but time constraints. Fellowship has solved many of those time issues I had which has made it easier for me to jump into the game and learn more about this type of gameplay.
The type of Fellowship content I tend to create are hero-specific guides, analysis, as well as general Fellowship knowledge YouTube videos. I do stream on occasion, but it's not been a primary focus although I'd like to be more consistent about it. As I said, I'm a big believer of what Chief Rebel is creating, and as such we've got some big content coming to you all in the future! Looking forward to EA-Season 3 and beyond!
Have a wonderful day, everyone! - GooberTroy"

Full Dad:
"I have an obsession with Dungeons. Therapist says it's okay. I also love meeting people with a common interest and being part of a community that all share that dungeon obsession that I have.
I stream in English and my favourite Heroes to play are Elarion, Aeona, Rime, Xavian and Ardeos
I do episodes of "Hello Fellow" that teach brand new players the game. I also enjoy helping players get their 10K mounts and showing them things they may not have known before through that as well. I don't enjoy 30+ Eternals as much as some, but my end game is meeting new people and getting people hooked on this amazing game"

Leknok:
"Alo everybody! I'm Leknok a German little guy (in-game) who's very active in the Fellowship community. Usually you can find me live on twitch streaming high difficulties, pushing for rank 1 on Vigour, just gaming with the bois, in the Discord helping out other players becoming better at playing Vigour or just meming in different channels.
I'm planning to publish more educational content in the future with guides and commentaries to very high dungeons so everyone can have a better understanding why we are doing certain things in a specific way.
Currently you can only find me on twitch but this will change soon! I'm mostly streaming in English but don't hesitate to ask in German as well if you're not comfortable communicating in English!"

Reactions are back, and we intend to keep them.
The Fanart channel is for human-created art only. Submissions made using AI fall outside the intent of that space and should not be posted there.
We understand that AI art is a highly discussed topic in the creative and gaming space. Many artists feel strongly about how their work has been used in training datasets, and we fully respect that perspective. At the same time, we also recognize that AI tools can be a form of creative expression for some people and can help unlock ideas or skills that might otherwise be inaccessible.
For that channel specifically, we are setting a clear guideline: Fanart is for human-made work only. We also ask that this is handled respectfully. Please do not shame users for using AI tools. If AI-generated art is posted in the channel, simply remind the user that the space is intended for human-created artwork.
We’ve also seen an increase in hacked accounts and bots joining the server and posting suspicious links. Please be cautious and do not click anything that looks suspicious.
We are removing these accounts as quickly as possible, but if you spot anything suspicious, please ping our moderators so they can take care of it.
Thanks for reading, you've made it to the end! - Chief Rebel Team
