Livestock has arrived in Farlands!

With each update, we’re getting closer to 1.0, and this time the focus is on farm animals and the end of the story. That’s right, it’s now possible to “finish” Farlands.

changedThat’s right, it’s now possible to “finish” Farlands. The story will continue in future updates, but once you reach 70% of the Ark, the final events that conclude Gorman’s story will be triggered. If you have already reached 70%, head to the Ark to activate these events.
addedBy talking to Bonnie, you will be able to purchase Barn Capsules, which will construct different types of barns on your farm and give you access to three new types of livestock: Cottonbunnies, adorable little balls of fluff; Squickens, frantic octopuses with chicken genes; and Bearded Snails, peaceful giants that grow fruit in their beards.
addedThere are 8 new events with the romanceable candidates, allowing you to raise your friendship level with them up to level 4. The next update will introduce the maximum level and weddings, so keep an eye on your favorite candidates, as you will soon be able to share even more events with them.
addedNew animations and sound effects for furniture placement, making it much more enjoyable to decorate your homes and farms.
addedThere are 5 new Steam achievements, all related to these new mechanics.

But that’s not all. This update also introduces a key system for any resource management game: building barns and taking care of livestock.

By talking to Bonnie, you will be able to purchase Barn Capsules, which will construct different types of barns on your farm and give you access to three new types of livestock: Cottonbunnies, adorable little balls of fluff; Squickens, frantic octopuses with chicken genes; and Bearded Snails, peaceful giants that grow fruit in their beards.

You will need to care for them by feeding them grass daily, and in return they will provide you with resources, along with poop that you will have to clean up. If you take good care of them, their affection will increase, improving the quality of the products they generate. If you neglect them, Bonnie will take them away.

Alongside these major additions, there are a few other important features.

  • There are 8 new events with the romanceable candidates, allowing you to raise your friendship level with them up to level 4. The next update will introduce the maximum level and weddings, so keep an eye on your favorite candidates, as you will soon be able to share even more events with them.

  • New animations and sound effects for furniture placement, making it much more enjoyable to decorate your homes and farms.

  • There are 5 new Steam achievements, all related to these new mechanics.

  • And as always, there are plenty of bug fixes.

Now that all the major systems in Farlands are in place, the pace of updates has picked up slightly. The next update is planned for early April, so you will not have to wait long for the next batch of Farlands content.

Thank you all so much for your support. None of this would be possible without you. See you very soon.
